Flames were significantly the better team, has to give you hope they can win their home games, but they are literally have no more room for error. Can't get any bad bounces, can't make any more mistakes, they have to play well all night long.
Really really frustrating loss, they deserved better but a couple of weak individual efforts cost us. I've been a big fan of Hamilton's, but that's two in a row, I'd actually sit him next game.
|
I don't disagree with you about Elliott, and yes Hamilton took an extremely stupid penalty, but let's be honest, Brouwer is a tire fire. He adds absolutely NOTHING of value.
He's a good guy in the room, whoop-de-friggin-doo. He makes $4.5mil/year and was touted as a playoff performer who was terrible all season long and has yet to contribute anything of value in these first two games.
Is the game on Brouwer? No, but it's time for him to step the frig up. I'm fed up watching him go through the motions out there. He's just so disappointing.
Frustrating loss, and no it wasn't on Brouwer. But he did nothing to help win either. I am done with that guy.

Took a fluky goal to beat us. Flames played well enough to earn a split but didn't get it. Time to hold serve at home. Those jumping off bridges, don't come back when they go back to Anaheim looking at a best of 3. Just don't even watch.

In hindsight it looks like GG should have challenged that goal call.

I'll take this effort over the ones 2 years ago any day. Some stupid penalties, yes. Be a lot tougher if we lose in the Dome....the W is there to take!

If the gap was a score I guess it would be 3-2. But hey that's pretty good, right?

That's not the point. The coaches and the players know the officiating is going to be questionable, but the players go out and give the moron officials a reason to make calls. On things that don't matter at all, stuff that doesn't give the Flames an advantage in any way.
Dumb coaching, dumb players.

That's the most "curse" way to lose a game. Amazingly bad deflection by Bouma followed up by a selfish penalty by Brodie. All that after a great second and reasonable third. Even game made memorable by how the Flames threw it away any hope of winning at the end.
Bouma out for Lazar would be a nice change for next game. Not really sure what Bouma brings that Lazar can't at this point.

And yes, the gap is that large. 28 straight losses in a visitors rink kinda confirms it. A good team gets this monkey off their back years ago.
|
So you think the better team wins EVERY single game? The Thrashers won in that building more recently that the Flames, and they were putrid. Same with the current rendition of the Arizona Coyotes, and those horrific Oiler teams of the past decade.

This is such a team with an effing loser mentality. At least the Oilers play with heart, this sad sack of players do not deserve to wear a Flames jersey.
Just when you think they can't find a new way to lose a game, they do. LOSERS!

Did you even watch the game? The Flames dominated the game. Your posts are absolutely embarrassing.

It was pretty blatant IMO. I don't blame the refs for this call.

|
Yeah but 'most of the game' isn't the end of the game, where the score actually matters. If the Flames want to even have a chance to win this series (which is absolutely possible, don't get me wrong), they need to play that 'most of the game' for the next two (if not three) games.
Dead: 4-0 after 4.
Bad: 3-1 after 4.
Good: 2-2 after 4.
Very nice: 3-2 after 4.
But those last two results can only happen is if they can play well the whole game and not have an early meltdown to put them in a hole and not fall apart in the third period. This has killed them in both games thus far.

Sure, anger and disappointment are at its most volatile considering how the Flames repeatedly put themselves in a position to win the game only drop it themselves or due to reasons outside of their control (goal review, unlucky bounces)
Wouldn't be as big of a deal as people lose hope quickly in a 3-0, 4-1 loss. But giving hope and taking away is apparently what the Flames do best.

flames deserved to at least come away with a 1/1 split after the first two games. is anyone surprised at how this game played out? the disallowed goal was icing on the cake.
with that said, why would you put brouwer out there again with the net empty? how many board battles has he won all season?
why does bartowski see the ice in the third, with brodie and gio ahead of him, especially after the way he's played? i wonder if there's any correlation between stajan getting more even strength ice time than both monahan and backlund and our going down 2-0?
gulutzan needed to make lineup changes yesterday.

The western conference is anyone's to grab. It's not like there's a dominant Chicago, St. Louis or LA this year. Each team has its weaknesses.
It's too bad the Flames gave away 2 in Anaheim when they didn't need to.

Calgary played better than the ducks.

Calgary played better than the Ducks, except for their goaltending. Which is, unfortunately, kind of important.
