Default New grass for backyard

Bought a house last year and now it’s time for a backyard facelift. Long story short, it is beyond repair and I’d like to just hit the reset button. I will be removing the existing grass, adding some screened loam, contouring for proper drainage and then installing fresh sod. I’ve contacted Bluegrass and Scott’s Sod, does anyone have experience with the sod from these two, or recommendations for others? I don't know if I should just go with the cheapest or if one is higher quality, they seem to be the same blend.

We put in Blue Grass sod 2 summers ago. Great quality, price was expensive but I didn't have much to compare to for price competition (we're in Airdrie). Cheaper than buying per roll I guess.

They have a forklift on their delivery truck, so if you have a space wide enough to drive into- a little more than a standard pallet width) then they can deliver it right where you want. Otherwise, driveway/street. That makes a lot of work.

I had to be home to accept delivery, otherwise it was only a 5 minute delivery when they showed up. Unfortunately they gave a delivery window so you have to waste half a day if you're a later delivery but don't know it.

We are in a new neighborhood with no neighbors so we got a lot of weeds around. Very little in the lawn so the grass must have been healthy and good quality. I'm expecting more weeds and dandelions this year but that's on me and not the Blue Grass sod department.

I've sodded a few yards, and have found the best quality sod came from Chinook.

When I needed to sod my yards, I went with manderly.

The grass grew and continues to live. Could not be happier.

What's a cost estimate to pay for someone else to do it? My dog has destroyed my rented yard and I'm probably facing a resod before I move out.

I used Scott's easy seed when our dog destroyed a yard. Saved ripping up a huge area and it came back with little effort.

I'm talking a huge excavated area about 25 feet across from all his digging (big dog, bad early training on my part). That feels more than just seed. Then add in the fact that seed takes a lot longer and I'd want to do it at the last moment before I move out.

So ya, just curious if anyone knows a ballpark $/m2 cost for sod where I do nothing but give someone money.

From my experience of having landscaped the yards of three new homes, the sod quality is similar across the main suppliers. I've had great product and service from both Blue Grass and Mannerly.

The more important part is the preparation and care once the sod is down. Don't cheap out on the loam and be prepared to water it a lot unless you can time it prior to a few weeks of rain.
