Great timing of this topic. I've recently been looking into something that I can watch the games frustration free. I have Kodi via Amazon Fire TV and it's been hit and miss whether I can even get the games and if so, picture quality and buffering have made it unwatchable sometimes. I like the suggestion from calgaryboy and may try that.

I'm not much for Apple products these days, but for whatever reason, the NHL streaming on AppleTV is better than anywhere else I've tried.

It was also perfect quality throughout the game when streaming in Australia. I never got ads either, just the same "we will be returning shortly" page.

The silence that takes over during the "we will return shortly" page is really jarring. Especially since I like to turn my sound up pretty high during games.

PS4 has been unwatchable this year. It's really unacceptable quality but I know the NHL customer service for stuff like this is a joke.
I've been chromecasting with my android device and it's been way better. I also have an old apple tv on a second tv and that's been better too.

Yep. Hearing Darren Pang scream "that can't be right!" a few million times is enough for me now.

I'm surprised to see that so many get advertisements. If you're using a browser, simply using Chrome and turning on its adblock features will get rid of all the advertisements. I don't know if people knew that. I learned of it when watching highlights on a random computer and there would always be ads that I never got on my own laptop....but it was cuz of adblock.

Brazil isn´t exactly known for high quality internet but I find the new Nhl.TV app has been pretty good. I watch it on my PS3, sometimes the quality is HD, sometimes it is not. It´s fine for the most part. No commercials, no issues with the controls and no weird apps.
I do find it funny that it works better on my iPad than my PS3, however. Overall, the product is much better than in recent years.

I stream GameCentre via Chromecast. Only real issue, the audio is slightly out of sync and the video will need to buffer more as the game goes on IF I'm streaming from my S7, if it's streaming from my tablet or laptop no issues at all.
I find it's not quite as nice and smooth as MLB.tv but it isn't bad.

I wish I could stream nationally broadcast games. I mean why don't they? Show the commercials if they're national, what does SportsNet care? Only people losing out as the cable companies (except Rogers) and for me I have it anyway I just like the habit of streaming and find the video quality is often better than Eastlink HD.

If the NHL runs gamecentre why are NHL Network games blacked out? Seems dumb.
Anyway in the US on a Roku it's the same as always. Half the time the feeds are SD quality or buffer mid game, half the time they're fine. No rhyme or reason.

"Crawford! Robs Taylor Hall in a 6x4!" At least they show the Sam Bennett 4 goal highlight.

Here in Denver, I get local ads injecting into the commercial breaks. It's like the same two commercials over and over.

I'm using the PS4 NHL App and I can confirm it's crap. Buffer issues every single game. Seems to run better if you wait for the game to be over and then start from the beginning. It's not a bandwidth issue. I'm getting 150Mbps. The NFL app streams great too.

I'll have to try out the Chromecast solution and see if it gets better.

On a related note, has anyone else experienced either a black screen or endless commerical loops when trying to view highlights on nhl.com?
I've had this occur on several devices and it is annoying.

The NHL Kodi addon in the official repository is nor very good, or it wasn't a couple years ago when I tried. Not sure which calgaryboy is using? I suggest you try the NHL.tv one by Eracknaphobia. It is 100% legitimate and requires your NHL.tv, GC or Rogers login. You can Google his repo to try it.

How much is GC versus NHL Center Ice? Can one even get Center Ice in EU or Iceland?

Yeah, you´re absolutely right, Eracknaphobia addon for me. You need your official nhl.tv sub for that. But as I said, that is treat to watch!

Thanks. I'll try this one tonight. I was using the official one, but never got the good quality that you mentioned. Hopefully this one works a lot better!

The biggest problem with centre ice is that i have to pay for cable. I hate cable waste of money.

Well, clearly I've pissed off someone at tech support, I can no longer stream on NHL GC on my PC Chrome, still ok on apps, but considering nothing has changed since the last game I watched they took the criticism professionally.
