				 Vehicles - Monthly cost?

The public transportation thread got me thinking. Just curious what you all pay to have a car/truck on the road every month.
 Lease/Loan Payment?
 Insurance?
Amount spent on fuel each month?

My 2002 Mustang GT Convertible is currently costing about $160 a month. 120 for insurance, and $40 for gas. Although it's getting to a point where it will just go down to storage insurance which I think is still like $40 per month and get parked until April. Since I work from home I don't really need a vehichle so thats a nice perk.
The 2006 Rav4 (which is really my wife's) payment is $520 a month 48 month loan, insurance is about $100 and we spend about $160 on fuel for it a month. So total cost would be about $880. For the two vehichles it's costing us over $1000 a month which is more than the mortgage on the house I bought in 2002.

To buy a monthly commuter bus pass that is honored in Edmonton and St.Albert and gets you unlimited transit rides costs $72 a month. Than factor in that my wife has to pay $4 a day to park where she works and taking public transit would be much, much cheaper. But she will never ever do the public transit thing. I used transit last winter and didn't mind it. Driving in Edmonton is frustrating as hell with the way the morons drive here. There were a couple days that the bus was like an hour off, but than again that was because of traffic/wheather conditions and driving would have been just as bad. You certainly do lose out on convenience and I wouldn't want to ride the bus year round. But for a few months in the winter I didn't mind it.

In the Summer I ride my motorbike, an older Honda Shadow. Been paid for since '95.
 Insurance - $28/mo
 Fuel - $30/mo minimum

I'm planning on getting a decent car next Summer, curious to see what you guys have and how much they cost to keep on the road.

Holy crap. I can't believe what some of you guys pay a month for insurance. I bought a new truck this year and I pay less than 1200 a year for insurance. Then again, I have no tickets (only because I don't get caught) and only 1 claim in the past 20 years (previous car was stolen).
<rant>Personally I think $1200 is way to frikkin' much. Before the post 9/11 insurance grab scam, I was paying about $600 a year for insurance. So in the past 5 years, my rates have doubled. Go figure. I guess someone needs a healthy dividend on their investment. </rant>

As you can see, insurance payment depends on track record. It's a very big or lesser chunk.

Assuming you buy or lease something new, I think it's tough to drive for less than $500 a month when you add up insurance, payments, gas and maintenance. If you work downtown, add another $300 a month for parking if you want to drive to work.

Man, this is depressing when I start adding up what I spend. Anyone want to trade me their monthly bus pass?

Oh come. How are you paying $40 less than me? We are in the exact same category and I would think your car would in a higher bracket than mine, since yours is a two door sports car and mine is a four door.
