Ain't no shame in crediting Nashville. They're a well-coach, structured team with some solid talent throughout the lineup.

Gotta think Tkachuk makes a big difference in both games. That suspension sucked and now it's evident how important Tkachuk is to his line and this team. His hunger is infectious.

It's not that Bennett was bad, but losing Tkachuk just throws off the chemistry of our most important and reliable line that is instrumental to the Flames' success. They can't finish as well without his smart little plays to create time and space.

Tkachuk for MVP. We have a 0% winning percentage when he doesn't play

Holy crap was Bartkowski ever dreadful. At least Brouwer had a good game. His 1st genuinely good game in a long while.

My goat of the game is Bennett.

Stupid play that led to the 2nd goal, move it quicker. You are in the NHL, it's crunch time, it's not the OHL anymore.

On the 3rd goal, his defensemen are gassed and hemmed in, and he's at the centre line waiting for a pass??? At least get between the opposition forechecker and your defense to give them an outlet.

Stupid boneheaded plays all game long by Bennett. He wasn't alone, Gaudreau and Monahan had lots of stupid plays, but two of Bennett's boneheaded plays led directly to goals.

Anyways. This is all disappointing but after letting it soak in I'm going to keep perspective.

Mid November this team was 5-10-1 and looked like complete garbage. Then Staal broke Johnny's finger with about 516254131 slashes that never got called.

I thought they were cooked and it was going to be another depressing March and April of reading draft previews, following top prospects and listening to the endless bickering here about whether you're a real fan or not because you cheer for losses or wins when the team is out of it.

If you'd have told me then that we'd sitting here with 86 points, a 9 point lead on the 9th place team and a 98% chance at the playoffs at the end of March, I probably would have laughed in your face.

It's a tough league to win in. Team played well enough to win, but for a multitude of reasons they didn't tonight. Oh well. Move on to the next, hope they play well enough to win again but do this time.

I mentioned this a few weeks ago but the Flames should have brought up some skilled guys during the season to see if they had any chemistry top on the 6. Now as soon as we lose a top 6 it throws the whole team out of wack. Take out Ferland and and the top line is back to where it was when we struggled, take out Tkachuk and you have no one who has had any reps with Backs and Frolik.

When it comes to injuries to key players I think the Flames are unprepared for the playoffs. Not sure why the Flames had to wait until end of the season to see how we fared without a couple key players. We have depth for the bottom lines but very few players on the roster who can slot into the top 2 lines. Maybe BT wants to avoid another Sven situation but why wait til the end of the season to find out that the current bottom 6 just don't fit on the top 2 lines?

Flames starting to look like the team that lost to Arizona at home prior to the streak.

Coach has Gio and Hamilton on the second unit to prevent mismatches when the PP ends ensuring it's not 4 forwards on the ice.

This will sound odd but I kind of like games like that because it really shows you how far this team has come ... the fan base too.

You see they are playing well, holding the play, getting chances, out playing the opposition, but sloppy so they find a way to lose. Sucks as I think we're all getting used to winning, but it sure beats the hell out of most of the recent ten seasons where a sloppy game on the road would result in a complete beat down.

The Flames were off the mark last night and paid for it, but they looked like the better team to me most of the night.

That's a change out of pretender and into playoff team, you can see it.

Johnson wasn't the problem, but he wasn't the solution. The powerplay was awful, but the execution from the skill players was just off last night.

Monahan and Brodie were mind numbingly bad.

Hamilton with a very undisciplined penalty.

Johnson 3 goals on 12 shots.

Yuck.

Can't imagine anyone would be saying we looked good if it wasn't for Nashville being undisciplined and giving us half a period worth of power play time. Couldn't make simple plays all night.

I'll start to worry if they lose on Saturday. OOT scoreboard was brutal too.

Cant argue it was a horrible game from start to finish, Johnson can't let 3 goals in on 17 shots in the NHL, just cant happen. Tons of defensive gaf's already highlighted so need to touch on that.

However keep in mind we hit 3 post's in the first period, any or all of those going in completely changes this games outcome. Just unlucky on the bounces tonight and poor play after the first.
