It was pretty even minus the garbage let in by Johnson and Brodie's bonehead play. Flames were awful on the dot tho, that was not even.
I disagree. Their zone time was filled with great puck movement while ours was largely broken up quickly. They were better defensively and offensively.
I also find your comment about losing confidence in Johnson kind of odd and overstated. It was a soft game but it's difficult for a back up when they're not playing. I think he's showed enough this season to be able to say this was an off night.
Brodie and Engelland looked a bit off tonight, as did Hamilton - he looked to be a bit sluggish out there. The whole team in general seemed a bit sluggish - not a big worry, bounce back against Dallas on Friday and chock this one up to a learning lesson for the boys. Chad was bad no doubt but the good teams win and lose as a team which I think will be the message in the room - lots of guys with off nights tonight.
Go Flames Go; start another 10 down the stretch here

it was close-ish for the first half of the game and we collapsed. couldn't get any zone time, couldn't gain control, and got hemmed in our own zone. a bad showing. here's to a better effort friday.
the 3m line with 2 weak games in a row. wonder if tkachuk is feeling whatever has been ailing him.
gio and monahan bright spots

Johnson's play at home has given me nothing to be confident about. I don't want to throw in Gillies or Rittich but I can't say I will be confident the next time Johnson starts at home.
A small aside that's been frustrating lately is the frequency with which players miss the ability to make a simple play and get the puck out of our zone to break up extended attacks by the other team. Seems like there's been quite a few over the last couple games with someone having an option to get the puck out but they delay and try to make a fancier move / pass and the puck gets turned over with the other team allowed to remain on-side and continue an extended attack. Hope they can zero in on this and adjust.

As I said, when you're not playing, it's not unusual to have a night like this.
I think he's been the best backup we've had in years on the whole.

Wouldn't call Monahan a bright spot, he missed the net completely on a perfect feed from Johnny in front of goal and whiffed on another.

Brouwer doesn't pass the eye test. Don't care much about corsi, but I'm sure his was terrible again today. I've bitten my tongue about him lately as he hasn't hurt the team at all, but this guy better deliver in the playoffs.
Didn't like his embellishment on that high stick, either.

Brouwer better start bringing something better soon cause he's still doing next to nothing overall and it's getting really late. My patience with him is wearing thin.
If mighty Troy doesn't show more good things then he might as well make way for a game or 2 of Lazar in his place.

I would way rather watch Lazar with Bennett at least for a couple games. Time to see what Lazar can bring this season
