Default Macbook Pro

Well I've had just enough with my PC and the Windows system. I get virus attacks or port scans at least once every 2 weeks and I am paranoid careful. To take some stress off my life, I am definitely thinking of going Mac for good.

I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on where to go to get the best deal on a Macbook in the city.

I always have the best luck at the local authourized dealer level, versus Futureshop or Best Buy. Prices are pretty much the same across the board.

the best prices would be at the UofC store, but you have to be a student or work there (or get somebody there to buy it for you).

I would also recommend Mymacdealer in Victoria Park.

or if you already know what you want, you can always just order online.

Be careful! My partner just bought a macbook and she has had nothing but problems with it. It is 3 months old and has been to the shop 3 times. Infact it is in the shop right now and has been there for more than a week. The logic board is messed up, she had to have her battery replaced and the power supply causes her screen to flicker.

I would wait a while until the next generation comes out because these first generation macbook's are crap.

I've had a mac for the same amount of time, and the largest problem I've had is figuring out how to use the keyboard shortcut to brighten that monitor. These things are amazing.

For every person that's had a mac problem, there's 100 people with PC's dealing with the exact same thing.

MyMacDealer and Westworld will match the online discounts from Apple.

I ordered my Macbook Pro online throught the Apple Store and had a great experience. It shipped from Shanghai and was here 3 days later (via Alaska and Memphis TN!).

No problems and I've had it for 4-5 months. LOVE it.

If you are a Mac use, I highly suggest getting TechTV Canada on Digital Cable to watch CallForHelp

Or you can pay to watch their podcasts - very useful information and really the best source for MAC tips/tricks.

You can get great deals on MacBook Pros on the apple website. If you want to save more money, go with a refurbished one, you can save around $250-350. I got one 2-3 months ago and I love it, and other than the box, there was no difference between a new one and a refurb'd model, same warrenty, just alot cheaper. they just dropped the price on them too since the Core 2 duo model released.Link

I'm a converted Windows user. I've had my MacBook for about a month now. No virii, no crashes, no need for a firewall ... smooth sailing.

i would definitely get a core 2 duo at this stage though.....buying an old one automatically puts you about a year behind.
