They had the OT and a 7th game to win it. They lost, there's no conspiracy, it was no ones fault but their own. It wasn't even 100% and the call on the ice was no-goal so who knows if it would've been overturned had they reviewed it.
Don't dwell on it, you'll just feel worse.

wow is that 3D rendering ever a joke.
Obviously drawing the puck in higher than in the video
You can also see the puck position flatten out as it deflects off the pad the first time. If the puck was over the line like that, the goalies pad would also have to be inches off the ice which it obviously wasn't off the ice at all.

Yeah.
Mostly this kind of talk highlights that we have suffered through a rather depressing decade of Flames hockey, after a decade of same before that.
Cheers to the next 10. Flames on the cusp of starting to ease some painful fan self inflicted memories, I hope.
Let's say the play was actually reviewed at the next whistle. Based or the replays, I believe that the result would have been deemed inconclusive.
Would people be more bitter about that play had it be reviewed and still called no goal?
This is my biggest gripe. With all of the technology in '04, they don't even have a conclusive replay to show whether it was in or not, so it's always up for debate.
They haven't done a heck of a lot to improve things since, while tennis has had great technology for the last 15 years or so. NHL seems to love keeping things controversial.

Yup, putting some high speed tiny cameras into the posts themselves would clear up 95% of the inconclusive results that still occur.
Have them all with the centre of the lens directly on the back of the goal line. "Low tech" and mostly foolproof. I mean they have cameras in the net now, why not add more?

It still wouldn't solve the problems with goals being hidden by goalies/equipment, though it would have helped in '04.

My point is that we should wait until there's a solution that solves everything 100% when there's a reasonablely easy to implement option available that solves 95% of the problem.
I remember watching a shoutout years ago between Edmonton and Vancouver, where the Edmonton player shot the puck, and it very obviously lodged under Luongo's pad (but you couldn't see the puck). Luongos pad slid entirely into the net, then he pulled it back out of the net before lifting his pad up. I don't think there could ever be a camera angle that would solve that problem. Anyway, after a review that took around 10 minutes, it was rightfully called a goal.

I am more upset with the winning goal in game 6 that Tampa Bay scored. There should have been a penalty right from the faceoff as a Flames player was trying to get to the point and was interfered with.

Yup, I'm more upset about that as well.
Probably one of the most blatant uncalled interference calls ever.

How hard can it be to put sensors of some kind in the puck and net?

Apparently very hard
Its outrageous to me that we are almost at the year 2020 and revelations like what you have mentioned are still just story board topics at this point. Tennis as pointed out earlier has taken full advantage of the technologies available almost at the instant that they became available. Shocking to me that the NHL isn't all over the idea you mentioned above.. I've seen it brought up before and the only detractor that was brought up was that the pucks would be much more expensive so they would have to track the ones that go into the crowd down... have the players sign 15-20 pucks pre-game, problem solved.
I can't believe I'm still salty about something that happened 13 years ago. But I definitely am.
Same here... to this day I hate American Pie.. especially the 2nd one.
I remember crying and leaving the living room with about 10 seconds left (was 14 and just crushed) went to my room and turned the TV on and AP2 was what turned on. I watched American Pie 2 as the ######bags in Tbay hoisted the cup. Absolutely hate when I see that movie come on the TV now lol.
