Rather a lot to give up for a rental but I guess if they win the cup, who can second guess it... might be hard to re-sign him though. Oshie and Williams are UFA, and it seems like Alzner will probably need a raise from 2.8.

Really good player if slotted in the right role which the Caps will be able to do with ease.
Hitch used him a ton, so any nonsense about being poor defensively goes out the window regardless of theinane ramblings of those who dont have a clue what they are talking about. It's not his main strength but he sure as hell isnt a big weakness. Trotz is also a defense first guy and will have KS playing the right way.
This trade really does help tip the balance in the East...pretty good chance they will be in the SC. I will be in Vegas a couple weeks from today....been pondering who to lay 100 bucks on...Caps are 9/2 at the moment. Not a bad return.

Blues get 1st-round pick, conditional 2nd-round pick, Zach Sanford & Brad Malone from Caps for Shattenkirk, Copley.
Caps GM said he wanted a 3rd goalie and got one in Copley
Craig Custance @CraigCustance
Blues retain 39 percent of Shattenkirk's salary.
