I think all it would take is for Iggy to go to Sakic and tell him he wants to go home.
You're right. I could see it from a "you earned it doing you a favor trade" but as much as I love Sakic, he's been a bit of disaster in Colorado. These moves arn't doing him any favors with turning that ship around
Monahan hits 100.
Elliott proves (again) that he can show up big.
Hamilton puts in another game that makes his early-season haters look totally ridiculous.
Wideman watches from the box.
I'd want Iggy back strictly for selfish sentimental reasons; don't think it's a good hockey move.
Probably moot, as I'm sure he's looking at a legit contender for a final kick at the can
Agree, its not like he has expressed any interest to return...let alone enough to ask Sakic to take a lesser deal to accommodate. He could have signed here if he wanted to come back so bad...he would have even won a playoff round!
totally agree with millen; zero reason for emelin to throw that hit at that point in the game
Iginla would bring some character, leadership whatever you want to call it to that first round, but again he has to be willing to accept 4th line minutes and just being a face. From any stretch of games I've seen this season we are not making it past the first round. Is that what he wants? Does he want to belong to a cup contender or walk out with Calgary?
Sweeten it with a late pick or a mid-range prospects?
I'm not a believer in bringing Iggy back by any means, but for if you get rid of Wideman and add an Iginla that just might have the push for one more drive with the right motivation, I would say yes please.
And come on, it would be cool. In the movies, it would happen. And it would work, god dammit!

You're forgetting that he's tried to pick what he thought would be a top contender a few times and it hasn't worked out at all. It's a difficult thing to do so I'm not so sure that's as much of a stumbling block as a few people here are trying to spin it.
Also, your repeated notion we're first round and out fodder is as disappointing as it is annoying. Once you get in anything can happen, and it's already been pointed out on this page along the teams we'd match up with in Round 1 are favourable at this point.

Wideman and a 7th...maybe lol
shouldn't be paying to get rid of Wideman, he is gone at the end of the year anyway. He is also one injury away from being back in the lineup
