Yeah, I think you read that incorrectly.

I suspect GG meant the Head (ie: lead) athletic therapist, I reckon the Flames might have more than one on staff.

Yup. "Oh, look, a book about the Flames and Oilers written by an unabashed Oilers fan?" I expect that to be as objective as a White House press conference.

How did George Johnson and Randy Sportak lose their jobs, while Spector, Staples, Jones and Francis stay employed. Do the Oilers pay those 3 their salaries?

Yeah, I bought it because it was a long flight and Tom Clancy is dead.

Made the mistake of reading that thread now. Some head-shaking comments for sure.

Burke should rent a barn outside of Red Deer and challenge him to a fistfight

Yes, but John Le Carre is still alive.

Unfortunately Edmonton is a better sports market which is why longtime Calgary writers were let go while long time Edmonton writers remain employed. The Oilers and Eskimos generate more traffic than the Flames and Stamps. Edmonton is more blue collar and has less things going on around and outside the city limits than Calgary.

I wonder who gave him the information? If I had to guess it would be one of the fan960 guys. They seem close to him.

Clicks.

They write lousy articles stirring #### up and we share them here and everyone clicks through. The original bus thread has nearly 20k views. Some of that traffic trickled down to sportsnet and spector keeps his job and keeps churning out sloppy work - his paycheque depends on it. Spector is happy, sportsnet is happy, bingo is happy. George and Randy didn't bring the clicks with their competent journalism.

This is why Canadian teams can't have nice things.

Because Johnson and Sportak write decent articles that are worth reading, while Jones, Francis, et al, write articles that get lots of clicks.

When you call out his trash on twitter he just blocks you.

People like Spector are the biggest problem with the hockey media.

Also people here just have to link their articles to spread their incredulity and get them several hundred more clicks and then ask in a state of disbelief how these people are still employed.

Stop linking their articles.

I offer up my backyard or garage, but you can fit more people in the backyard.

I was happy to hear what GG said. I certainly wasn't willing to give JG the benefit of the doubt based on the past on why he was late, but I have no reason to believe, at least on this even that GG isn't telling it like it is. He has no reason to set the record straight if what he said wasn't accurate.

I certainly believe JG could probably benefit from some off ice mentoring...........but I clearly jumped the gun on this being another point of evidence backing up that theory.
