Don't.
That's the only way he wins.
If anything, pity him.
He was born into failure. Molded by it. He didn't see anything resembling success until this season and it's nothing but blinding to him.
He's a sad little man, and deserves nothing but our pity and dismissal.

Judging from the comments on here, we've got a new nickname for Spector.

The Flames should be pushing Spector for a public apology and pushing the NHL to pull his media credentials, the league doesn't need this kind of worthless yellow journalism.
On top of that allegations of a partying lifestyle should be addressed in a lawsuit by Johnny's camp. These kind of rumors can be damaging to any kind of extra income that Johnny makes.
Spector is the worst reporter out there and it typical that he's a fan of one of the worst franchises in NHL history.

Have you read the Battle of Alberta book that he wrote, it was the worst piece of hockey literature that I've ever read.
I can't believe I spent money on it.

I'm sure a strongly worded letter will suffice.

Basically the Flames should at least ban him from coming anywhere near the team. Or better yet let him into the dressing room and have Burke give him an open handed byatch slap in front of the cameras.

The article was trash but nothing close to resembling something damaging enough to justify a lawsuit. Coverage of the lawsuit would do waaaaayyyy more damage than a trash article that never actually specified anything he supposedly did.
More importantly perhaps, the distraction of a lawsuit would be the last thing Johnny needs right now.
The coach setting the record straight should be left as the final word on it.

I don't mean to flame the Spector hate going on, but he didn't exactly report anything on this incident that wasn't technically true. I am by no means a big fan of his and the constant Oiler bias and such but the quote from the piece was.
" Gaudreau missed the team bus for the Flames practice at Central Park earlier this month, arriving just in time for the start of practice in a New York taxi. These things happen, even to the most dedicated players. But when they keep happening to the same players, it’s cause for concern"
Now he isn't the Flames beat reporter or anything so I doubt he was in NY during the road trip so I assume he got his confirmation from another beat reporter or source.
The fact that the coach confirmed nothing happened is all fine and dandy but sometimes that's just the fact of today's state of journalism and sports news.
I recall being on the Flames 3 game road trip to southern California during the lockout shortened season. The Flames played Anaheim on Friday, LA on Saturday and Monday and happened to be staying at the same hotel for the entire duration of the trip.
It turned out to be a massive gathering of Flames fans, ownership and media as there was lots of speculation of an Iginla trade. I recall being in the hotel lobby ( Biltmore in downtown LA) just chilling, waiting for some of my friends to come down so we can go for lunch. Turns out Iginla and Glencross are in the lobby with a couple of suitcases and a bunch of the media, both national and regional from tv, radio and print start all getting all worked up and working their phones. A member from one of the broadcasters mentioned to us that Iginla and Glencross were being part of a trade package and they were working to find out details before going with it but they were confident it would be confirmed within moments.
In any event it turned out that Glencross actually was just checking out of the hotel and was returning to Calgary as he was injured and Iginla was just in the lobby chatting or saying goodbye.
When we all watch tv, listen to the radio or read headline pieces its the media that provides the content, good or bad. A lot of the "rumors" and chats that go on about trades, firings, concerns or other details are generally coming from somewhere, right or wrong.
Like I said I am no big Spector fan boy or anything but it wasn't like he reported anything totally untrue that would warrant lawsuits or massive apologizes. Information leaks out from a variety of sources in everything, not EVERYTHING we hear is B.S but we also need to remember that correlation doesn't equal causation.

This is the problem with what he said, it makes Johnny look bad. He's a fake reporter that adds little too much to get fans and other media outlets thinking things they really shouldn't. If your gonna report something make sure you know whats going on 100 percent or you'll make yourself look like an ass, and this is case here.

Fake news or alternative facts. Call it what you what, sounds like Gully is taking notes from the rightwing playbook. Nothing to see here right?

I can honestly say that thread was one of the low points in CP's history and some apologies are due, but will likely never appear.

Interesting that Johnny is seeing a head therapist (ie sports psychologist). Probably because he's in his head so much and holding his stick too tight!

I love hockey books, but I saw the author of it and passed. Him and Bruce D'ohbiggin will never get a penny from me.
