Even Canucks fans are fuming about them having 19 second nights of back to back games. Can't blame the Oilers for that though as it was the NHL that did them the favor for the first season in their new building.

Is it actually 19? That's crazy if true, almost 1/4 of the season facing tired teams?
Edit they also play the least amount of back to backs at 10

Maybe now the Oilers and McDavid can get over this.

368 forwards have played 300+ 5v5 minutes this year. Milan Lucic is 307th in points/hour, sandwiched between Jack Skille and Ryan Reaves.

That's pretty laughable. Good thing there's only 6 years left on that deal...
Anytime I've watched the Coilers this year he's been pretty invisible. Even in the games against Calgary. He doesn't hit much, fights even less and the scoring speaks for itself.
I hope Chia is GM there forever.

It's the Wideman effect. The league just wanted another way to hurt the Flames, so they gave their rivals a butter soft schedule.
It's all part of the conspiracy.

Call me a "tin foil conspirasist" but I really think the moVing to a shiny and Expensive new building given the team trajectory was a major concern. The Oilers winning the McDavid lottery and then this year's schedule, what else .
Like seriously, let's assume the Oilers didn't get McDavid (or eichal) this team is just in pure shambles for another 5 years.

Laugh all you want at the Oilers for the Lucic signing, but i'd rather take his deal than Brouwer.
Lucic doesn't fight much, because no one really wants to fight him. The Oilers are a tough team now. They don't get pushed around and McDavid has free will to chirp and play his game.
Lucic's impact is not just measured in the points, the guy has a physical presence. For years the Oilers toiled in failure with all that skill, is it just a coincidence that they finally turn the corner when they add some serious truculence?
Brouwer's response when Stall breaks Gaudreau's hand - C'est la vie, that's hockey, I do it too.
Lucic/Maroon/Kassians response when Manning says some mean words to McDavid - pound Manning at ever chance they get, oh, and win the game as well, funny how they didn't spend the whole night in the penalty box for protecting their star.
McDavid can play his game because the Oilers protect him.
Gaudreau can't play his game because the Flames don't. Gaudreau is a shell of his former self now. He's scared to carry the puck, scared to get hit, scared to break his hand again, leading to all his turnovers and curls into "safe areas" of the ice, as opposed to attacking in the "danger areas".
Hate the Oilers, but am envious of the team philosophy they have built.
Edmonton as a City is still no good though. God what a crap place to live and they have the worst sports commentators/fan/media in the world. (Had to get this last sentence in).

For those keeping track, Brouwer is 336th.
I'd way rather have Lucic than Brouwer. Still, lol edmonton, no good idiots.

Lucic has spent a fair bit of time with the NHL's leading scorer too; something that Brouwer hasn't had the benefit of.

Can't be serious. Neither player is living up to their contract, and you'd rather have Lucic for another 6 years @ 6M, than Brouwer for another 3 years @ 4.5M?

Let's see if you're saying that in a couple of years. They're both bad contracts, but one is significantly longer for significantly more money. Not a chance I'd do the Lucic deal over Brouwer at this point in time.

And one could be exposed to Vegas, while the other not.
Imagine the optics in Edmonton if they gave up Lucic to Vegas for nothing. What a riot it would be.

I don't think there's an Oiler fan that wouldn't be okay with that. That would be awesome.

Doesn't Lucic have a NMC? They can't expose him to Vegas even if they wanted too. Also, even if they could why would Vegas pick him? They will be looking for young players and veterans on short contracts. The Oilers are stuck with him and will be in cap hell in two seasons.
