At least he said Happy V day to all this time, and didn't mention his many enemies. I guess that's progress...

Yeah, we all want things...U.S. President Donald Trump made it clear he expects Russia to return Crimea to Ukraine and reduce violence in Ukraine, White House spokesman Sean Spicer said on Tuesday.
"President Trump has made it very clear that he expects the Russian government to de-escalate violence in the Ukraine and return Crimea," Spicer said at a daily news briefing. "At the same time, he fully expects to and wants to get along with Russia."

Russia annexed Ukraine's Crimea in 2014.

Seeing as the House Oversight Committee isn't going to investigate Flynn, unsurprisingly confirming the belief that the Republicans are just partisan hypocrites, it will be interesting to see what happens in 2018.
If they hold on to power, it's pretty clear that the American people just don't care as long as their team wins and their democracy is honestly just a sham.

Mike Pence Told About Flynn Warning 11 Days After Trump, White House: Sources
"Vice President Mike Pence was informed of the Justice Department warning regarding former national security adviser Michael Flynn late on February 9, 11 days after the White House and the president knew, two sources tell NBC News.

While Pence seemed to be kept in the dark, Trump was first told about Flynn's phone calls almost three weeks ago, a White House spokesman said Tuesday."

Interesting development, Pence has been very quiet since Trump was elected and this just seems to confirm that he's not part of the core group of trumps counsel. Makes you wonder what else he isn't aware of.

With hindsight, if I'm a Republican Party official and I see Trump rising with chance to win the Whitehouse I get a bland do-what-you're-told VP to run with him and keep him distanced from Trump. Then give Trump rope to hang himself and install your stooge as president.
GOP suddenly gets everything they want

He should stay quiet. The last thing we need right now is Mike Pence putting his foot in his mouth. Keep your head down and you'll be president by 9/11.

A few years of bad Republican policy is a small price to pay for the worst of Donald Trump being mitigated.

Yeah, that's been the theory for a while, except the bland do what you're told VP is a Tea Party zealot.

Man this annoys me. Mexico has been screwing Canada and the US over for years with their cheap labor and lax regulations. I have zero sympathy for them if NAFTA gets renegotiated and they lose out. Maybe they should stop exploiting their workers. |

Not that weird, really. Not trying to sound combative or dismissive, but this was a foregone conclusion as this would've happened under any/every GOP presidency that comes out of the current crop of GOP politicians.

The GOP doesn't stand for fiscal restraint or small government or personal freedoms or a free market, they are a bought and paid for corporate apparatus that operates on the policy of removing restrictions towards monopolistic corporate hegemony.

The democrats are a corporatist party in their own right, but the GOP stands in stark contrast as being about ONLY those things. Voter suppression, women's rights malignment etc all serve the overarching goal of reverting the US economy back to the late 19th/early 20th century.

I probably sound like a crazy communist zealot to some but I'm an ardent capitalist. System-sustaining regulation is necessary and attempts to disrupt the free flow of capital by artificial monopolies is just anti-capitalist behaviour in my opinion and negatively impacts us all.

Watching the paranoia in Trump cult land right now sure is fun. They are not happy at losing Flynn, and are already starting to fret about the possibility of losing Kellyanne and then eventually Bannon and Miller (they oddly seem to like Spicer too now). Reince seems to be their number one target, hence a Breitbart article today suggesting he'll be fired next. But I'm thinking it's Pence who is pulling a lot of the strings on these leaks. The new one about "He didn't know until Feb 9" sets up the kind of narrative needed to get GOP backing to oust Trump: That Trump is leaving Pence in the dark.
