Yeah I don't get it either. Wideman should be away from this team.

I get this team doesn't have the depth available but he has done nothing to deserve his playing time. I thought the mantra of this team was earned not given but Wideman is given top 4 minutes no matter how he's playing. He's only ruining any value he has. Team would be better off if he just went way far far away.

By far the most likely reason is that he's not as bad as you think.

Right on, Hathaway in. He's going to be a wrecking ball.

Looking forward (not) to Crosby getting his 1000th point. You just know it's going to happen in the 1st period.

Hopefully Johnson has used his time off to work on high glove side.

His last 3 starts were horrible. Save % of .810, .250 and .750. January was 4 great starts, one meh start and the three crapfests. December was similar. 5 good stars followed by 4 bad ones. Time for a hot streak again.

But he is that bad, he's garbage but some fans here have a "you just don't get it, he's fine" approach when he just isn't. The worst no.4 Dman in the league if you want to even call him that. He's elite at getting stapled to the boards on every dump in tho.

Pens record at home: 22-3-2.

Yikes.

Pens missing three of their top scorers tho in Malkin, Sheary and Hagelin so there's that.

I wish that was the case. Most likely reason is actually that whomever else we could use to replace him is even worse.

That's what we said when PK and Josi were out for Nashville. Flames need to be prepped and ready to play

I think the only reason Wideman doesn't get benched, is because the Flames are looking to trade him at sometime before the deadline and if he's being benched all the time, it'll devalue the possible return...

So basically,
Wideman might get us a full bag of shiny new pucks, but by benching him, he will only get us a half bag of dirty old pucks.

Crosby's 1000th is inevitable tonight... Hell the way the Pens are playing at home, he could get to 1005. Going to be an ugly one methinks

Still have to wonder if some teams might be apprehensive of what refs might do to them if they pick up Wideman.

You comment on the depth, then proceed to ask for him to be benched. He is extremely overpaid, but at this point that's spilled milk.

Otherwise, the only player we've got in the org. that you could potentially argue to take his minutes is Engellend, and that becomes another #### storm around here the second he gets put out of position, people start underrating him real fast.

Wideman is well past his best before date and takes up too much cap space, that's for sure. But if we really want to be mad about how bad Wideman is, we should be getting fired up at either our development system, or at Wortherspoon and Kevin for making Wideman still be one of our best 5 D-men on this team.
