Where to find Nintendo classic mini?

I have had 2 fake SD cards come via Amazon. Fake as in they are actually lower capacity cards that were modified to report higher capacities to devices. They work fine until you hit their actual capacity and then data becomes corrupted.

It has gotten me wary of buying SD cards online. Will only buy them from brick and mortar from now on, unless it is directly from a manufacturer or a website with a very good reputation.

I figured by February they'd be everywhere.

I would never condone hacking a classic NES as it's morally wrong. But if I did... over the lunch hour... just now.... I'd go through and curate all 900 available games and prune them down to my favourites... I bet that would be really awesome.

Got tired of waiting for an NES classic so I bought a Raspberry Pi and decided to dive in. Overall it was actually very easy to do. I am currently using a PS3 controller but that feels odd trying to play NES games, I keep wanting to use the joysticks. What controllers are you all using on the Pi?

Xbox controller sucks, PS3/4 has the best d-pad of the newer generation. I would recommend a buffalo SNES controller for a wired nes/snes controller.

8bitdo is a work of art. Can't tell it apart from the original unless I'm holding both in my hands at the same time. I still have an snes. It's a fraction of a sliver heavier and that's it. Everything else feels spot on.

So managed to mod my NES classic to add more games. Really opens this thing up. I was pretty scared to brick the thing, because I never had experience with ROMs, and how hard they are to find, but makes it 10x more worth it.

so, if you are planning on breaking the law anyways, I'd recommend just getting a Raspberry Pi from the beginning

Worth every penny. I put a custom rom on it to give it a bit of an overclock, remove the bloatware, and provide root access (http://boards.dingoonity.org/gpd-and...at-for-gpd-xd/), and after that I was up and running with RetroArch in minutes. The controls emulate an Xbox 360 controller so everything just works out of the box, and the build quality is very good. Has no issue with PS1 or N64 games, and can even do DS and some Dreamcast games with no slowdown. Highly recommended for anyone that wants a portable emulation collection

Recently I picked up a retron 5 slightly used for $130

its not for everyone but its working well for me

plays my carts, I can use all my old controllers (big plus if you still have them)
save states are nice
games look like a million bucks on newer tv's

Also, there is a simple "hack" to play roms...I have the entire NES/SNES/Genesis library converted on an SD card

Looks like people are making the Classic into a multi-system emulator too, can add software to play SNES, N64, Genesis games. Pretty cool.

Since it's just ARM-based hardware running a flavor of Linux it's not surprising it's completely modifiable, however I don't really see the point. The Raspberri Pi 3 is more powerful, cheaper, has wifi and bluetooth, and is far easier to setup to do all of the things these hacks are accomplishing. At this point the only reason to choose the classic is for the nice case
