Johnny was hooked about 7 times on that sequence. Come the #### on, refs.

This is BS, how much are you gonna let the Wild go at Elliott?

Why?

Just because one bad play was made before that doesn't excuse Brodie from making another poor play.

2 on 1's happen often, the d-man back still needs to make a smart play there.

And the Wild have been in control since. They had nothing until that goal. Everything except for a few shifts is in the Flames end. It really is amazing how much the momentum can change from one error like that.

Sometimes guys make shot blocks resulting in a two on one. It doesn't excuse the start of the play. By the same token, the "nice play" involved fooling Brodie with a head fake. Brodie is supposed to be stopping the pass over all other options. He got beaten, plain and simple.

I don't disagree. Doesn't change the fact that Brodie should have been much better on that play. He could have turned a rotten play by Wideman into a nothing play.

Why is that so tough?
That's actually not true. The guy constantly shooting it straight into guys shin pads and then falling on his ass to give up a 2 on 1 is the guy getting the blame here.

Don't care if it's Brodie, Hamilton, Gio or Wideman.

The thing is, Wideman has these blunders almost every game. How he continues to get defended by some is laughable.

I'm not defending Brodie's play on the 2 on 1 for the record.

Brodie played the 2 on 1 poorly. Strange that you can't see that.

Let's not forget the Wild are arguably the best team in the NHL this year. Flames have had a few solid scoring chances since that Minny goal, and they're doing a decent job holding their own against a superior team. They look good for the most part. Only negative so far is Wideman.

No question we'll need a big 3rd if we want the 2 points though. Wild are gonna push hard in the 3rd.

Christ people, yes Brodie didn't play it perfectly but it happens.

Odd man rushes are a great scoring chance by default.

Minnesota hacks all the time. I've developed a real hatred for them. Lots of dbags on that team, and they whine a TON.

I'm sure that's Brodie's mentality on that play. I feel bad for anyone who has to try and make up for Wideman's bush league mistakes. Brodie has definitely struggled this year but being shoe horned into playing his off side with Dennis Wideman sure hasn't helped him get out of his funk.

No one defends his mistakes or even suggests he is some great defenceman. However, he has had some very good games and is not nearly as bad as some people suggest. If you wait for him to make a mistake so you can post about it, yeah, you'll get to post and feel all satisfied. But you could probably do the same for every player, top to bottom.

An easy example is Elliott. He's played great tonight. But if he lets in a saveable goal (not even a softy), watch what happens here.

Playing that side should have helped on that play.

Granlund made a nice fake on the pass, then went wide and got the pass through. It was a great play.

Brodie was put in a terrible position by Wideman.

Players get beat all the time. Sometimes it's their fault, sometimes it's because they were put in a no win situation by someone else

The only reason Wideman isn't being sat is because they are trying to sell him off. No way do they scratch him leading up to the trade deadline.

Treliving makes the all the right moves, but he takes too long to do them.
