Cash grab is wrong, but not because that is the point of business.
A cash grab traditionally has a negative connotation for something that has no purpose, or is of poor quality, but is sold anyway.
While the ads would have the sole purpose of revenue, they don't really fit the definition of a cash grab because they aren't being sold to the general public for consumption and their purpose on the jerseys serves a legitimate purpose.
A cash grab would be if the NHL redesigned every single team's jerseys from every year with the majority of the designs having only minor changes, similar to how Euro soccer teams operate. That's a cash grab because there is no reason or purpose to do a redesign except to try and extract revenue from the public, while not offering them anything new or of substance vs what they could buy now.
