I had the hammer dropped on me a few years ago. At the time I did not overly enjoy my job as I felt like the company wanted to suck every ounce of time from me and I hated it there.

It hurt at the time but I knew it was for the best and that I would find a better job, and I did about three months later.

Bartended in University, showed up to my shift after bermuda shorts day thinking that was the responsible thing to do as opposed to calling in sick.

Getting changed in the change room fell through the staff computer station breaking both computers, needless to say i was relieved of my shift that night and all future ones

** worked out for the best, my manager was a grade A ###### and i was employed within 3 days at a MUCH better restaurant

Sure. And as a result I proved my full on crazy while standing in the middle of that burning bridge making sure each side was fully eroded to prevent my return.

Now I work for me and I have zero regrets

Hmm, that gives me an idea.

How about someone from CP offers me a super sweet job (even just an ok job would do the trick) and I'll promise the community to document my efforts to get fired at my current role and post it all here.

Think Better Call Saul, season 2.

Never been fired, but I did fire a kid one time for locking the sous-chef in the walk-in-freezer during the dinner rush.

Why did the walk in freezer have an outside lock, that has to be crazy illegal.

I've never seen a walk in freezer that didn't have the ability to be locked
from the outside. Some pretty expensive items in there.

Really? Isnt it usually just a pin?

I havent worked in a restaurant in 17 years though so I might not be remembering correctly.

I mean...if someone, on shift, stole from the freezer...what the hell are they going to do with their stolen goods as they rapidly thaw during their shift?

Its like a dismal 'Mission Impossible.'

Well..of course, if they were bright they probably wouldnt need to steal in the first place.

But really, whats the maximum value that an individual could realistically accrue by robbing a kitchen freezer in amounts sufficiently low/small to evade suspicion?

This kid barricaded the door with boxes and a keg. He thought he was playing a funny prank.

Fired once for missing too much work when my first son was being born. There were a few false alarm late nights at the hospital. I could hardly stay awake.

Got let go for contraband at a work camp. My fault on that one, as I knew it was contraband, just thought i would get at least a warning first.

Huh, somebody was either really bored or searched up a specific topic.

Anyways I've only been fired once and I wish it was some epic story of me trying to fight the man (actually had a bit of an attitude by the end since I had worked there for a couple years) but I just got written up multiple times for being late and eventually that was that.
Felt crushed getting the news even though I knew my time working there was getting to the end, giving zero ****'s about putting in the extra effort to do well.

If anything, it was probably a positive thing since it finally got me out of retail and onto better jobs that were more relevant to my field of interest.

I got "fired" via email from Westburne two days after I took possession of my first house.

Freakin weasel wouldn't even talk to me to explain why and only stated "customer complaints" which was bull crap as in my next job I had to deal with the exact same people as the last one...only for a different company.

To this day If I don't have to buy anything from there I don't...

I worked for a local Leisure Centre for a time.

They did fire me. Because I had not accepted a shift in several years but continued to use the Gym.

I figured that was fair enough.

Let go while working as a 20 year old in concessions at the ACC, paying my way through university. Such a corrupt organization (MLSE) at the time where so many people at various levels were all in for themselves. My story was that I found a lost wallet, a coworker said he was heading to fan services so he could hand it in, so I gave it to him but instead he kept it. I go into work the following day, and I'm brought to the offices where I'm grilled for a couple hours by the head of security, and then cops. The officers were cool, but the head of security was an ass. Anyway, the coworker said we split the contents (which we certainly didn't), and we were put on unpaid investigation leave. A few weeks later, brought in, given a letter by management saying I was let go for cause, then they proceeded to give me a meeting with the union. I ask the union if they'll fight it for me and being the corrupt organization they are (Teamsters) said they couldn't do anything because another member made the claim against me. They also said the police could possibly be on their way up as we spoke, and the only way to get away from the firing was to quit right there and then. They also said I'd never get a professional job once school is done, especially for theft. I said I had nothing to do with it besides handing the wallet to the guy (which was the reason for the firing). I felt the immediate pressure, drafted a letter saying I quit, then left. Realizing I was bamboozled, I contacted my mom's employment lawyer friend, who said there was little recourse as it was a union who had to fight, but he would put in a letter for them to do their job, but they responded sarcastically. That letter cost me $500, and he was a top lawyer and said they were a bunch of bullies to respond that way. I just wanted an official apology letter back, but they never did that. Crazy that management was in cahoots with the union there. It was a fun environment despite the incompetence and cut throat coworkers, but the entertainment value and pay were excellent as a student.

Wonder what the coworkers thinking was for throwing you under the bus with him. It doesn't make him any less guilty to have a co-accused.

It was so many years ago so it's hard to remember all the details (though a lot just came back), but they were playing the prisoners dilemma with us during the interviews, and I think he cracked, but may have thought bringing another down would have lessened his guilt - really no idea. Talking with some other coworkers about him afterwards, I heard he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, so that could simply be it.

edit: another story just came to mind (a lot of people were fired at the ACC during my time there). A lot of people started playing late night basketball in the Raps practice court after their night shift - security, concessions, ushers, etc. They weren't allowed to, but did anyway. One day they were caught red-handed, and given that most of them knew eachother, they decided to pin the blame on one guy (a new guy who was nice actually). He's the only one that was let go and the others get away scot-free. The new guy wasn't even involved with organizing, he was just playing as were the others. But everyone was out for themselves. So many stories.
