Flames at MSG - seating recommendations
My wife and I are headed to New York next weekend and will catch the Flames v. Devils/Rangers.
Any CP'ers have suggestions for lower bowl seating at MSG? We don't have tickets yet. Plenty available on StubHub/TM etc. I'm curious about the odd seating set-up, with the steel fences and front rows seemingly well above ice level.
Does this result in restricted views? Are there better sections to look at (Flames shoot twice, of course)..
Thanks in advance, but I've confirmed there is not a Sbarro's inside MSG.

I sat middle upper bowl, and the view was amazing. Can't help you with lower bowl beyond what we've all seen on TV. I'd probably avoid the first couple rows of the lower corners specifically because of of that odd set up.
The Prudential Center in Newark is easily my favourite NHL arena. I loved that place.

I recommend not watching the Flames play hockey unless you enjoy punishment.

Find a location where there is a large quantity of alcohol available...and bring alot of money to purchase it all. You will need it.

There is (or was) a Wolfgang Puck stand though. For us$14, you can get a gourmet chicken burger that is really tasty. It is also smaller than a McDonalds hamburger.

The Book of Mormon is playing at the Eugene O'Neill. I recommend you skip the game, take in dinner at Sparks, then go see the show. Much better use of your time.

I sat in about row 10 in one of the corners and I thought the sight lines were great. The game went to a shootout so I was really close to the action. This was in 2011 during the reno and the concourses were pretty bare bones at the time but obviously that's better now.

If you want to see some goals scored, sit in the end that the rangers shoot twice on, but if you like watching goalies pitch shut outs then sit in the other end

Rangers attack zone would make sense so you get to see two periods of goals up close. Sucks that it's on Elliott or Johnson (or maybe both), but at least you'll see goals!
EDIT: Didn't even read the post above me... damn old age.

Sit directly behind the player's bench so you can watch Gulutzan all night to see if he actually talks to anybody or does anything. You'll also be able to observe if the ''leaders'' on the team are actually doing anything to lead.

We sat front row on the middle level there a couple of years ago. There was a tv screen for each seat. Made our space a bit cramped but was worth the novelty factor. Certainly had a great view of the entire ice. But then I am a fan of the second level at the dome too. Not too keen on the lower levels at all.

If this is possible, bring along signs saying "WAIVE CHIASSON" and "FREE BRODIE" (with the R's highlighted somehow to drive the point home) for you and your guest to wave.

Wow, most people have to choose between seeing a tragedy or a comedy when they go to NYC. You will get to see both.
