Poll with a yes or no won't make a difference. As some said only would replace him if an elite coach was available.

I really hope we don't get on a coaching change carousel like the oilers did over the past decade or so.

Hey, I'm not justifying Gulutzan or suggesting he's a great coach. I'm just saying classy organizations don't hire rookie coaches and then fire them 40 games into their first gig, especially a team that has a history of being a basement dweller for several years in a row.
Would I fire Gulutzan? Not this season due to the optics and the strain on the players changing systems mid-season in a WC spot, but I certainly wouldn't bring him into the next season. But I can see Treliving sticking to his guy.

No, GG needs more than 40 games. Minimum 1 full year, but hopefully longer. It would be terrible management to keep cycling through coaches.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

If Claude Julien becomes available I absolutely want Treliving to be all over it.

I wouldn't make a mid-season coaching change to salvage a playoff spot. I'd make a mid-season coaching change because Gulutzan.

Exactly. Which is why Hartley should have never been fired until the right replacement was available. At the time and in retrospect, Gulutzan wasn't that right replacement.

Rookie coach? Gulutzan ran a talent laden Dallas Stars squad into the ground.

We are now at least a little respectable in that area and the somewhat better team game is a big reason.
Also, I still think players have Hartley's system ingrained in them a little bit and are having a hard time getting rid of the Hartley stink.
|
Yes, that Jack Adams winning stink that saw Backlund, Giordano, Brodie, Gaudreau, Monahan, all have career years....
give me a break.

Good post. The lack of emotion and push-back the last few games has also been telling. Looks like they're going through the motions.

If Gully is fired Treliving will go with him, zero chance a coach gets fired half way threw his first season bu the GM who hired him.

I don't know if Tre will pull the trigger but I gotta think King might. He can't be too pleased with the displeasure of the fans. Couple that with him trying to get that arena, having a hockey team with no enthusiasm from fans due to a boring mediocre team will hurt their stadium plans. I have no idea how close Gully is to being fired but I gotta think it's getting close now. Coaches have been fired for a lot less in this league. No excuses of injuries or lack of pre season now. The shocking thing is he doesn't seem angry at all, very odd this whole meltdown has been.

Yup, all those career years and the team finished 26th in the league. It's almost like there's more to hockey than just putting up points...
