This is great news, but I am assuming he will probably be a week away from playing, no? Gaudreau was out for a little under four weeks; Brouwer has been out for just under three so far.

Johnny only missed 19 days. He was injured on Nov. 15th and was back playing vs the Ducks on Dec. 4th.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Probably see Brouwer in Edmonton would be my guess, based on no real evidence other than hope and his good progression.
Edit: Based on new evidence I would suggest we see him against Florida instead.

@WesGilbertson: #Flames RW Troy Brouwer (finger) has another X-ray today, but head coach Glen Gulutzan hopes to have him back in lineup within a week.

It looks like Brouwer could play this weekend. This was posted in last night's PGT:

With Brouwer’s imminent return, looks like #Flames are reuniting Monahan with Brouwer and Versteeg. Gaudreau with Bennett and Chiasson.
#Flames lines at practice:
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Gaudreau-Bennett-Chiasson
Versteeg-Monahan-Brouwer
Bouma-Stajan-Hathaway
|
Thank god. Brouwer's place in the lineup makes this team a lot better.

Sounds like he's cleared and may play tomorrow.
Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames RW Troy Brouwer confirms he has been cleared to return. Expect to see him tomorrow against the Devils.

I'd say the best news is that Monohan has finally been moved off the Gaudreau line.

Yeah... but Chiasson is still there. I'd rather have Brouwer or Versteeg in that spot.

The fascination of using Chaisson in that role by the coaching staff is nothing short of a head scratcher.

Anyone bitching about Brouwer sort of came around when he was gone.

I don't think Versteeg is a good match with Johnny. So if Brower is not available because he's hurt, or in this case playing on a different line with Monahan and Versteeg, Chaisson is the closest thing they have to a replacement. Well, maybe Tkachuk but I don't want to mess with the Backlund line. Or maybe Ferland but he's out at the moment.
