For pulling a stick out of your waist band 2 seconds before exiting the ice.
I don't think so.
Not trying to claim it wasn't on purpose but that's weak if that was the call.
Edit - official call was interference

nope, next time watch the game
sure there was a late scare but it was moments after the refs stole a goal from
Calgary so they were extremely lucky it wasn't 4-2
Game was even, Calgary out shot them by one...not to mention one of the SJ goals was on a phantom call and the other was a seeing eye point shot that went off the post and in

Monahan and Bennett were both off their game again.
Skating and handling the puck is just not where it needs to be from both of them. Chaisson made quite a few bone headed plays.
Johnny was hacked quite a bit yet again. Not happy seeing that crap go unpoliced again.
|
It was a great game to watch at the dome! My voice is hoarse today.
No calls for the hacks to Johnny yet they call an absolutely weak slashing call against Frolik.
It would have been nice if they let the crowd know what was going on when they ruled Mueller couldn't play.
From my view: Johnny, Bennett and Wideman made some really big mistakes. Wideman especially because he had time and space on one of his defensive zone turnovers and just waiting too long to make a pass.

In football (soccer), I believe when a team fields an inelegible player, they forfeit the match. These two points should have been ours from the beginning

According to the broadcast, it's only a penalty if the opposing coach notifies the refs no later than the first stoppage. Muller didn't get noticed u til the 2nd stoppage of play.

With Brouwer’s imminent return, looks like #Flames are reuniting Monahan with Brouwer and Versteeg. Gaudreau with Bennett and Chiasson.
#Flames lines at practice:
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Gaudreau-Bennett-Chiasson
Versteeg-Monahan-Brouwer
Bouma-Stajan-Hathaway

It was Wideman and Brodie on D in that play. It was Hamilton and Gio on the ice at end of the game breakaway.

I've been super happy with Johnson this season and not hating on him. Just feel because he made those two saves in the 3rd that he's getting praise for saving the day.

LOL what a weird analysis. He gets praise for saving the day because that's exactly what he did. He saved the day in the 2 most clutch moments of the game.

Only a penalty if you play the puck and you have two sticks. This is the same call made a couple weeks ago on Hathaway against the Ducks. Knocked Kesler's stick out of his hands on the way to the bench (Kelser was tied up with Stajan and Gaudreau). i wonder if it was the same ref as I still don't understand an interference penalty that doesn't interfere with anything. Both were weak calls

I absolutely agree. But I have to say that I think Boedker's penalty shot was pretty soft.

It probably wasn't the best try. But praise be to Johnson for not flinching when Boedker pretended to go one way and went the opposite. Johnson saw right through it and made it look easy.

I thought that save was more difficult than the breakaway because in the latter Boedker was forced into shooting only by Gio (using his "oh crap" speed).

That's a weird way at looking at things. The NHL doesn't have the same rules as in soccer.

Hmm. Maybe. The way I saw it Boedker ran out of room on the deke on the PS, so all Johnson had to do was stay square to him.

I think it's fair to talk about the weak moments he had (i.e. the second goal was not great) separately from the better parts of his game. Obviously, the net difference was positive but I wasn't a fan of both goals against.

Could you imagine OT didn't have a clock and it was just over when the refs thought they played enough?

What sport operates under these conditions?
Extra time (The equivalent of OT) in soccer is 2 x 15 minute periods, unless operating under Silver or Golden goal rules.
You might be thinking of stoppage time which is in no way comparable to OT in hockey. Its purely to account for stoppages in play due to injuries and substitutions.

I think I read somewhere that if they had an extra player (7D+12F+2G), then they would get a penalty, but since the Sharks dressed the correct number of players (6D+12F+2G) then it just made Mueller ineligible to play.

Does Mueller need to be on the ice tho? What if the offending team just keeps the player on their bench? Is it first stoppage after they play a shift?
I assume that Paul Martin (the actual player listed on the line-up card) would have been eligible to enter the game, but he was injured prior to last night.

Love those lines. Swap Ferland in for Bouma when he's healthy and leave it
