I would consider my own rooting interests intensely emotional, but the rankings reflect my attempt to rationalize why I behave differently in different situations. I am never unhappy when Canada wins, and I always want my country to perform well in sports. But there are other considerations in various circumstances which foster conflict relative to my own perceived view of their importance. How upset are you when the Flames lose a regular season game in late November, and how does this compare to your feelings about a loss in the second round of the SC playoffs in May? This is similar to how I measure the range in strength between my own emotions produced by Canada winning/losing in the WJC and the Olympics.

Kylington has been nearly perfect today, short of the pinch that let Karnaukhov head in on a break. He's so much like Brodie it's insane. Below his own hashmarks he's alright but not great, and in the offensive zone he can do nice things but he's nothing exceptional, but everywhere else he just dominates. His breakouts are precise and reliable, his zone entries are solid, and his defensive recoveries have been top notch.

If the Flames were only interested in having their 7 best defensemen on the roster I definitely think that he would be on the Flames right now. Stockton is still the right place for him but I dont think it will be long before he's a regular.

I preferred when Bronze medals were presented after the Gold Medal game with all the other medals. I seem to remember this happening in the 2002 Winter Olympics in SLC, but has this ever happened in the WJC? ...or did I just imagine that this has ever happened before at all?

Apparently Kylington's name was called out in both French and English, but he didn't even flinch. I'm assuming he was devastated and didn't want to accept any awards.

Apparently they did butcher his name (I didn't hear it myself), but he should still know that it's him.

He speaks fluent English, and I assume he knows what number he wears. SO I doubt it was a case of him not recognizing the butchering of his name.

Yes that's my guess as well. Given everything we've heard about him, it wouldn't be surprising. Not like it's a big deal.

I put club before country when it comes to hockey except for the Olympics. I'll be cheering for the US tonight, 2 flames prospects vs 1, just as I cheered for team NA at the WCH.

Again Olympics are different because they are actually relevant and the absolute best players in the world actually giving a crap.

The bolded part is absolutely true. In my case a little different in that I always found it difficult to root for US in any sport. But yeah, being away fuels my rooting interest and overall pride in all things Canadian.

Hell if I turn on the TV and a Canadian is playing darts, I will care more than I should about the result.
