Anyway, just my two cents.

It's one thing to "encourage people to walk or use public transit". And it's another all together to penalize them for not doing so. Maybe you're in the "encouragement" tax bracket but many aren't.

One wonders why everyone got so upset at Marie Antoinette. After all, she was only trying to encourage French citizens to eat more cake.

If / when asked...I'm sure this will be her type of response.
Deflect....deflect...instead of dealing with it...

Driving isn't a right. It's a privilege. Poor people unfortunately are less privileged than wealthy people in a vast number of ways. I personally choose to support policies and political parties that I think attempt to address this basic fact in balanced, reasonable and just ways (for example, replacing Alberta's regressive flat income tax rate with a progressive one [that was the NDP btw]). However, I don't think that subsidizing the negative costs of all drivers, rich and poor alike, is a sensible policy. I believe (although I am by no means an expert on such matters) that the current prive of driving in Alberta does not accurately reflect the actual costs (including environmental and infrastructure costs). Therefore, some type of carbon tax may be a reasonable, even sensible, policy.
Or maybe I'm wrong and Notley is just a stupid bitch.

Driving is not a right, but it is a necessity for many industries.
Also, her "take transit" attitude is rather hollow when it is her government currently holding up funding on the Green Line.

Oh cool. The carbon tax is going towards road maintenance now? Or is the massive change in behavior going to result in fewer potholes to fill every spring?
Just like my taxes pay for kids I'll never have to go to school, people who never drive still use roads every day. It's a long walk to Mexico to get bananas in December or to China for new shoes in which to walk to Mexico.
What makes Notley a stupid b is not the carbon tax. It's the numbers she presents us and the lack of revenue neutrality. My total cost outside of gas and utilities is supposed to be $70 bucks. But my city property tax is going to go up .5% just to pay the city of Calgary's gas bill. Now I've got $55 bucks left to cover what most other people suggest is going to be a grand plus.

Hell will freeze over before I ever take transit again. I'd encourage anybody out there to do the same. Buy a car. Really. If you're worried about your emissions get a hybrid.
I took the bus for years. It's brutal. You can't go through a month without something stupid happening.
Bus is late, no it already came seven early and you missed it. C'trains full, no problem, I can stand but wait, it's not running today between this and this station. There's a shuttle bus coming but nobody know's where it's stopping. It's full. The guy over there just gob spit on the bus window to let everybody know his frustration. Should be another one coming but who knows when and where they might decide to stop.
Going to the stampeders game, I'll take the ctrain. Couple of gang guys get on and pace up and down the car swearing and staring down everybody in their seats. Talking about how they're pissed and how they messed that last guy up for looking at him.
Today's good cause the worst that happened is a smoker sat beside me. Felt like I just smoked a pack myself and my clothes smell like smoke at work but it's been worse.
Probably once a week something happens where you wish you never got on that train.
I can go on and on and on and on if you like. It's not always transit's fault. They're doing their best.
If you take the c-train. Stop. Get yourself a car. If you get stuck in traffic, turn on the radio, make a phone call with your bluetooth. It's so much better. Don't let people make you believe it's to save the planet. If we want to save the planet the best thing we can do is help china convert their coal power plants to natural gas ones. They use the cheapest coal and their emissions account for 24% of the world's carbon footprint compared to canada's 2%.

Completely backwards.
We should ban standard time and permanently move to daylight saving time.

When I buy my Mexican bananas, I either pay a high enough price so that it is profitable for Del Monte to ship them all the way to Canada, or I go without bananas. So in effect I do pay for the cost of those roads (provided Del Monte is paying the true unsubsidized costs of transporting bananas thousands of kms).
Bananas are a privilege, not a right. If I can't afford the true price of bananas, then I'll have to eat something produced closer to home.
I don't mean to suggest that determining the true cost of transportation is simple or easy. I just think that it clearly needs to account for pollution and I'm willing to have that discussion without resorting to calling anyone a stupid bitch.
Incidentally, I hate it when people say or type something like "stupid b". If you're going to call someone a stupid bitch, don't be a sissy about it. Call them a stupid bitch.

Female politicians who are intentionally pissing off their constituents right now...
As an example...I haven't heard much vitriol directed at Michelle Rempel...
Maybe there is...but they aren't using it as a platform to deflect criticism of their recent moves / decisions.

You're missing the point on why people don't like your statement. They don't think there is a difference between abbreviating the word or using it. We don't like our premier called it in any sense.

Food, heat, electricity, and transportation are privileges not rights you guys jeez.
Why do people who claim they're out for protecting the poor are usually also in favor of artifically raising the costs of essentials of modern life, seems contradictory.

I don't know how people drive downtown everyday.
I get on the train, sit down, play games on my phone or read books. The frequency of delays is no more than problems in traffic.
I love the train. Coming from the south the time is roughly equal door to desk. Cost is 300-400 per month cheaper not considering vehicle wear and tear. When I switched to a non-downtown job for a while I missed the time I spend reading.
I agree with you though you don't take transit to save the planet. You shouldn't do anything under the guise of saving the planet. Its all marketing hype.

I believe that is actually the plan. They want to abolish it after a spring switch. It would move Alberta permanently to Central Standard Time - which is also Mountain Daylight Time.
So, really, Notley is just out to steal an hour's sleep from us all and never give it back. It's all just take, take, take with her government.
