I talked to a prominent utility company that owns every type plant from solar to coal to nuclear yesterday about a project and I quote them "our CEO has made it clear that no matter who sits in Washington and what regulations they get rid of the only future for true growth as a company is in sustainable energy. The science and direction we need to go is clear."

Future, yes - renewables are effectively going to make up and cover all the new energy growth as the rest of the world develops at a rapid pace. But for the next 50+ years, fossil fuels will continue to be a huge part of our energy mix since they make up that base demand that exists today. Fossil fuels are not going away any time soon, but yes, renewables are a huge source of upcoming growth and profit.

The MacMahons are the #1 outside contributor to Trump's legal defense, portrait, and attorney general fund charity.
Unrelated, Trump says he sold all his stocks in June, $40 million worth. He hasn't provided any proof (or what happened with the proceeds), and with all the talk of conflicts of interest, kind of suspicious that he wouldn't mention it at all.
But there was this about it:
Trump on why he sold his stocks:
"I don't think it's appropriate for me to be owing stocks when I'm making deals for this country."
https://twitter.com/mmurraypolitics/...99062732226561
Um, what? It's not appropriate to own $40 million in stocks, but it's appropriate to be in debt for $billion or more to banks owned by foreign governments and own a business with interests in dozens of countries?

This is one of the many reasons this idiot needs to be muzzled on twitter.
Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump
Chuck Jones, who is President of United Steelworkers 1999, has done a terrible job representing workers. No wonder companies flee country!
Danielle Paquette@DPAQreport
Chuck, a union leader in Indianapolis, says he is now getting death threats.

And just a couple minutes ago, he keeps going. Might as well keep going until someone with gun does something stupid, I guess.
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
If United Steelworkers 1999 was any good, they would have kept those jobs in Indiana. Spend more time working-less time talking. Reduce dues

Just give him a chance guys. He's going to become presidential aaaaaany minute now. Just let him get all this out of his system. Just give the petty sociopath a chance, I'm sure once he's the most powerful man on earth he'll totally calm down the rhetoric and personal attacks on private citizens.

Chuck Jones president of United Steelworkers Local 1999 (so the union for the Carrier workers) was on CNN and criticized Trump for not using the correct # of jobs (800 are being saved, 300+ more were never moving in the first place) and for not saving the other jobs that are moving to Mexico like he said Trump promised.
20 minutes later Trump tweets:
Chuck Jones, who is President of United Steelworkers 1999, has done a terrible job representing workers. No wonder companies flee country!
Which is just more Trump being thin skinned, nothing new. But Megan Kelly was on NPR today talking about how the public reacts and is motivated by his tweets, she was subject to horrible abuse when Trump put his attention to her. Others targeted during the campaign say similar things. And we had this gunman in a pizza store, and the stores around the place have also been subject to constant abuse and phone calls... it's hard not to be a little worried for someone like Chuck Jones; criticize Trump, get put in his public cross hairs and then be subject to the kind of abuse that no one deserves.
I mean we have discussions about someone who says/does something and someone videos it, people figure out who it is, and then the person gets abuse at their home and work far in excess of what they did.
It's crazy.
(Here's the article about the abuse that surrounding stores are getting too: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...06c_story.html)
EDIT: Too slow, but yeah see he's already getting death threats.

I'm surprised we haven't seen widespread defemation suits against him by now. Even in a defendant-friendly country like the US, he'a made a lot of attacks that either cross the line or come close to it. Or maybe everybody's just waiting until he opens up those libel laws.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the union tweet. He's said the leader has done a poor job, I'm not sure how someone could read that and immediately declare it wrong, unless they just hate Trump. Trump didn't back it up, sure, but then again the union guy doesn't do any better.
There's so much Trump hatred in this thread, its nearly comical. I agree he's a jackass but he won the election and every move he makes or statement he makes does not become wrong just because it came from Trump.
Get ready for odd bedfellows between unions and Trump in the near future, even if those unions do not like how Trump goes about it. Trump is going to try to go after Mexico based manufacturing via tariffs and that will only help some union workers keep their jobs -- there's no bigger labour saving than moving a business from an expensive union-controlled environment to a place like Mexico or China where labour is completely free market or worse communist controlled.
This is just a little skirmish and a few google searches suggest the steelworkers are a little shortsighted when it comes to retaining manufacturing jobs in the USA. And that's unfortunately in large part because these unions are a product of a by-gone era that was nationally insular and protectionist.
And I'm not bashing unions, but the fact is, they have to change their ways to remain relevant. The same can be said of the corporations -- they also have to change their ways.
And yeah Trump attacks because he was attacked. Get used to it, we're going to see a lot more of it. It got him elected.

"Trump attacks because he was attacked". Jesus Christ man, he's going to be the president. He wasn't attacked, he was rightly criticized for lying about job numbers. That wasn't even an attack. The excuses made for his childish behaviour as the soon to be leader of the free world are short sighted and partisan horsecrap at its worst.

Trump attacks when his lies are called lies, because he wants to try and move the conversation away from his lies and towards what a child he is, the conversation he's more comfortable having than being called a liar. And yeah world leaders and trolls of the world know the incoming POTUS is one of the biggest baits there is. What could possibly go wrong with that?

I'm not sure how you discredit it as "partisan horsecrap".
Trump is going to Trump. Whether you like it or not its how he operates. His tactic in this regard has been consistent not just through his campaign but long before that: He adopts the idea that instead of defending, always attack. There are so many examples of him doing this before he even started campaigning, but one of the more famous ones is against Rosie O'Donnell.
He is and will continue to do it, that is very clear. Over time it seems to work for him. Its a style I wouldn't want the leader of the free world to adopt but, there are no surprises here.
And yes, its also very much about deflection as SCD just pointed out.
But it is, and sometimes on those attacks he's going to be right. I don't know about this particular steelworker leader but in general they have served their members poorly over the last decade.

I don't think it will be 50+ years to be honest. It's going to be sooner. This group certainly is not talking about 50 years.
Anyways the only hope I have is that the group he assembles is so incompetent that even the GOP in the houses can't work with them and they end up governing with some sense.
