Flames What do you think of Alex Chiasson?

I think that this guy has been a really pleasant surprise for the Flames this year. He's a good skater, crashes the net hard, and has meshed incredibly well with Johnny and Sam on that line.

If he keeps up this play, would you be interested in signing #39 to a new deal at the season's conclusion? He has 11 points in 29 games this year but he seems to bring so much more than just offense. Also, fills our all-important Chiasson slot in the lineup, which had remained vacant since 1997.

Your thoughts?

I have a bit of a hate for him to be honest. But he's been good the past few games. That said...

It was supposed to be a joke, a replacement for the overused "Frickin'" title, but whatever. I think you're trying too hard to nitpick here instead of actually discussing what was actually presented in the OP.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I know that Chiasson goes offside frequently, but otherwise, I think he could actually be pretty valuable to this team. What do some other people think?

Q: How many Alex Chiassons does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: Just one, he went offside and the goal light was screwed over.

Or you can stop trying to make jokes with all your thread titles and stop trying so hard to be clever.

You knew someone was going to ask what the "Steve" meant and you got what you wanted, a chance to post an image of a former Flame who has the same last name that no one cares about.

Q: How many Alex Chiasson's does it take to have 7 points in his last 7 games, and have visited a local elementary school on a day off to speak at and support an event focused on perseverance where a 2nd grade girl battling cancer is honoured?

A: Even though there was an offside, and the Flames did win... correct, 1

He really has played great lately and deserves the extra ice time he's getting. Good to hear he's doing good in the community as well.

"Chaser," while derivative, is nonetheless a descriptive nickname. Let's run with that.

He is growing on me and is playing very well, it was neat to see him in the (silly looking) police hat thingy. I hope he continues to gel with the team and progress, and I really love hearing about his community outreach. I am proud of our team--they do a lot!

Really like Chiasson and think the blind hate a couple of posters have for him is pretty ridiculous. Does he step offside a couple of times every game? Yes. But you don't get perfection from a player on an 800k contract who struggled for the past 1-2 years. You can see him get more confident lately and it's showing on the scoreboard. He isn't overly skilled, but he's a good forechecker and a hard worker and he complements his skilled linemates. You can't really ask for more from a guy like him.

Too bad the goal was called back yesterday. By the way, they wouldn't have scored that without Chiassons good work in front of the net.

Geez. It's a witch-hunt in here.
Anyhow, thanks for starting the topic. Chiasson has received a lot of hate, and its great to see him pitching in and finding a fit.

Not to mention that he and Gaudreau worked that 2 on 0 perfectly, all stemming from him (and Gaudreau) reading the play well.

He's been better as of late. Not sure if it's just that he's on a role right now or if he has the potential to be effective consistently.

Hoping for the latter.

Few things he needs big improvement on:
1. Going offsides
2. Fumbling the puck whenever he receives a pass. Can never-ever seem to settle the puck.
3. Throwing the puck away trying to force a pass in a dump or shoot scenario.

The hate for the thread title is absurd. Give me a break. I like how Chiasson has played but if BT signs him to an extension based on good play during a win streak, I'd be extremely disappointed.

I remember Steve Chiasson well, Flames had some mildly big names onD there for a while. Unfortunately he died while still playing while driving over the limit. Carolina I think.

I saw Chiasson live a few times when he was playing in Dallas, and he was impressive.

Looked like a big and speedy 20 goal winger who could play both special teams.

He's started to look that way again the last few games. It looks good on him.
