Lindholm: 2 Goals - 7 Points
Monahan: 6 Goals - 10 Points
Guess for the most of those guys the pressure of new contracts is hurting their play.

Rasmus Ristolinen has zero goals and one of the worst plus/minus in Buffalo too.

Thankfully we have three previous season and over 250 games to make judgements on too.
This really reminds me on the Hamilton talk.

So its impossible for him to regress? Why is that? Look at Eberle, hes gotten worse every year.

Do we have to bench him? Can't we just make him skate around with a dunce cap on or something? That way everyone knows he's in trouble, but we get to keep him in the lineup.

Eberle's numbers for the past 3 seasons are actually pretty steady.

Didn't say that once, even if he finishes this season strong would be a regression. You don't come out of a quarter season funk smelling like roses. He's been hot garbage for a lot of these games.
Hopefully Gulutzen can correct some of the things in his game that Hartley left. Having to adjust to playing down low essentially as a 3rd D after being allowed to blow the zone with your wingers as soon as possible under Hartley is a steep curve, but he's done well in that regard IMO. He had success as the leader on his line before Gaudreau and Hudler came along and perhaps that great chemistry made things too easy and we're paying for it now.
He'll get back track. Personally I think you're a bit wonky tonky if you think he's now a 30 point third line player, but cheers to you.

I don't think he is a 3rd line player but I don't think he is a 6,3m player either. Somewhere between 3-5m maybe in the future. (Also I understand they had to pay more but the thing is they shoud deliver if they are asking so much).

3-5 million "in the future" for a guy coming off back-to-back 60 point seasons with goal totals of 22, 31 and 27? You're living in a fantasy world.
6.3 is just the way the deal is structured, to be even throughout. Pretend he's making less now and more later if it makes you feel better.

The highest scoring draft pick since 2011 (despite being drafted 2013) deserves only $3MM per season, in the future.
You heard it on CP first folks.

We'll see CroFlames, we'll see now he's not even worth 2 millions with his current state, so, lets just wait and see, right? or do you hold a globe so you can tell us the future in advance?'
So, to summarize (also I'm done with this topic) : I don't think he can live up to his contract, not even close to it, because he just ain't that good.

I think he meant crystal ball or something along those lines. Europeans sometimes translate things directly from their native tongue, but I understood what he meant.
Still disagree with his statements though.

Monahan's effort has been there. Not sure what benching him would accomplish or the point of this thread for that matter.
Until the PP coach figures out that maybe he should be using Monahan as a shooter his numbers will continue to suffer imo.

What does "not even close to it" mean? How far off is he? 1M, 2M?

I could respect what vilzeh is saying. In fact a buddy of mine (Oilers fan) actually mentioned the Gaudreau/Monahan signing was reminiscent of the Oilers signing Nugent-Hopkins/Eberle. I do think Gaudreau's contract is/will be justifiable years down the road but I don't think Monahan will play to his contract.
I do think Mony has talent but for a 6+ million dollar player, you would expect they could drive a line which I don't think Mony can do. I've said this in another thread last year that I think Mony has hit his ceiling the previous few years.
At the end of the day I like him on the Flames but I just don't like his salary.

Monahan has literally more goals than Nuge and was drafted two years later. Monahan is a far better player than Nuge is. Eberle shouldn't even be in this discussion.
Both Johnny's and Mony's contracts are justifiable and both players are likely to exceed them in the later years of the deal.
