If you learn anything from this loss, kids, it's that you don't touch the goddamn conference trophy after you win it.

Pretty sure Ressurection is referring the Stamps winning 5 Grey Cup's since the Bombers last won in 1990.
Speaking of, what was with Burris chirping what I assume is the Bombers in his MVP acceptance speech?!? Something to the effect of this being for the haters from organizations who haven't won in decades.

I wonder how much the Eastern Conference Final blizzard played into things. Not a lot from Ottawa's defensive game tape for the Stamps coaching staff to study. Probably just a bunch of man coverage and not a lot of zone. In his post game interview, Mitchell did refer to Ottawa's zone playing deeper than they were expecting.

I'd probably take 2 - 5 min halfs. (But probably takes too long for regular season)

They should go Aussie Rules Football style and replay the Grey Cup a week later.

I mentioned that as he was giving his speech. Seems bizarre that he'd hate the bombers for any reason.
I thought maybe he meant the TSN guys since they've been out of the game for a while.

Well that seems extra cruel. Anyone else getting GC 105 ads on CP? Mine are in French and seem to indicate I can save $50 by buying now.

full marks to the RedBlacks tonight and their coaching staff. Burris played one of his finest games, I hope he retires on this. Hard to believe we got out-coached, but I think that is what happened. And the Ottawa OL was excellent. Sinopoli is one of the good guys, i'm glad for him. Having to move from QB to receiver to stay in the game would have been a tough pill years ago.
Yet despite all that - we still had the game in our hands in the last 10 seconds. From the 2 yard line, it is definitely Messam time or just let BLM push it in. DD will lose sleep over that call for some time. He should talk to Pete Carroll for some therapy.

I wonder, given the game was in Toronto, if Burris was referencing the Maple Leafs rather than the Bombers with those comments? Might have been a subtle shot at Toronto's apathy.

Questioning the decision to defer in OT = not understand football very well. Obviously deferring is the right call.
The decision to remove BLM and Messam from the game at the 2 yard line is a different animal.
Great game, unfortunate result

Maybe it's because Buck is a good friend of mine, but I think it was a good play call at the end. They set up the Reblacks once with the run to the right with him, they were going for looking like he was doing it again but this time with someone flashing open to the flats for an easy TD toss. Credit to the Redblacks for not falling for it, but I feel like you usually see someone peel open on that play if you were to run it ten times. Combine that with some ####ty blocking and a lucky finger on Andrew's heel you get that result.
This stamps loss hurts more than the other ones, I've had visions of one my good buddies tossing the Grey Cup winning pass for my favourite team all night and it's pure torture.

Yet another play-off disappointment for this team, they have it down to a fine science since 1993. Unlike others, I'm having difficulty finding solace in their exciting comeback. To me, them dominating the second half just further points to how they should've won this game. Haha I should've seen it coming earlier in the year, when I declared this year's team is finally one that can be compared to the early 90s Flutie years. It definitely had a Flutie years finish to it..
Just a team-earned loss all around. The D shockingly getting dominated the entire first half, Bo's passes sailing on him like I haven't seen all year, bizarre coaching decisions like a backup QB sweeping run on the 2 to win the Grey Cup (and where they ultimately lost the game, imo), to receivers dropping balls, including 2 on that final OT series (they were really missing Quay)...just a team loss all around, they all earned that result.
Exciting game, but I'm pretty sour about it today. Just another play-off year to add to their choking "lore". I'm happy for Burris though, what a performance! Still love that guy

Tough loss, but fulls props to Hank and the Redblacks. He carved up the secondary all night.
Honestly though, challenging penalties is so ####ing stupid. The worst part of the CFL.

That's the pain of being a Stamps fan. Since 1990 they have as many Grey Cups as the Toronto Argonauts (5), despite the Buono and Huff years. They can dominate the regular season year in and year out but actually winning the last game of the year comes only slightly more often than just about any other team.

Sorry to hear -- sucks to be sure. But if you ask most fans, I'm sure they would tell you that the guy throwing the Grey Cup winning pass should be the Most Outstanding Player in the CFL, not the third string QB.
I like Buckley, and I don't blame him in any way for the loss; instead, the call was a classic case of being afraid to lose. Being afraid that your offensive line couldn't get a push on their defensive line.
If the ball was on the one yard line, I can completely understand putting in Buckley and the usual goal line package (even then, given the stakes, I'd be more inclined to keep Bo Levi and Messam in the game). But they were on the two -- I'll bet that is why the play call was to have Buckley looking to throw. The problem is that when you empty the backfield with the third string QB in the game, you take away (i) the threat of a handoff, and (ii) the threat of a drop back pass. All you can do is a plunge up the middle, or some sort of sweep play -- and the Redblacks were prepared for it.

The exciting finish masks the fact that the Stamps d was awful. Top ranked defense in the CFL gives up 491 yards in the air. That was the story of the game. The rest is just window dressing.

the d didn't seem to be able to make any adjustments, that would be coaching but at some point, the players need to make plays. horrible performance.

TBH with how the Stamps defense was getting skinned in this game, I would have played three down football when we were down by the goal line and try to win the game right there.
Claybrooks called a pretty poor game defensively and looked completely lost in the first half when the REDBLACKS screen us to death.

Maybe he's referring to the Ti-Cats, who haven't won a Grey Cup since 1999.
