Flames lose because of special teams. We can pretty much just copy and paste this for the rest of the season.

Except they did, and the refereeing would be perfectly typical for 29 other teams that can kill a penalty. Flames were very scrambly in the 1st, bad all-around in the second, and score effects were the story of the third.

Brouwer is only 2 points off of his pace from last year.
That's pretty good considering how all the top 9 forwards outside of Tkachuk/Backlund/Frolik have struggled.

Wait, that's a good thing? So far this season only four wingers in the NHL have
- 340 or more minutes played
- 9 or less points
they are:
Troy Brouwer (career highs include 43, 43, 41)
Loui Eriksson (career highs include 73, 71, 71, 63, 63, 47)
Reilly Smith (career highs include 51, 50, 40)
Milan Lucic (career highs include 62, 61, 59, 55, 44, 42)
A betting man would probably bank on Lucic, Eriksson and Smith to turn it around as history supports their ice time, and for Troy Brouwer to have the dubious distinction of having the worst production per minute of play for any winger in the NHL.

No, but it provides some context.
Brouwer will likely finish with between 33-43 points based on his history.

Whoo!!! Third liner production from a guy getting first liner minutes at the one position where production is just about the only way you can really significantly impact the game!

So then this is what 4.5M looks like?
If so, Flames are fortunate they got Frolik for less than 8M

Except Frolik is quite a bit younger. He's likely to keep up his play for the remainder of the contract. Brouwer is already one of the oldest players on the team, however he's quite durable.

Call this game Gone in 90 Seconds. Our special teams suck but would it kill them not to parade to the penalty box most games?

Have you looked at scoring levels recently? 43 points is mid second line production. (First Forward with 43 points were ranked 111th, 106th, 105th and 126th over the last 5 years; lockout season omitted). Even taking the pessimistic view of 33 points, that's still second line production (170-180th ranked forwards).
Seriously, you're hitting Ricardow levels of inanity when it comes to Brouwer.

Yes. We all know the price. That's not the question nor has it ever been the question.
The question is whether one should pay that price. If it is good value for the cap dollar.
So, if I understand you, you are satisfied with the value of the Brouwer contract?
Because I'm not.
Brouwer is producing exactly what should be expected for that dollar, I just don't think the Flames should be the team paying that dollar. Not now, nor for the following 3 years.

There's different ways to get 43 points. If you arrive there playing 19 minutes a night and playing 1st PP, it's not good enough

He's not playing 19 minutes a night.
Playing 1st PP yes, but our powerplay is atrocious and I don't think that's his fault. Everyone seems to be blaming Cameron/coaching for that.

Brouwer's game can't be fully measured by his point totals and we all knew that when he signed.
He brings other elements that this team lacks.
Outside of last night, where he took 2 penalties within 2 minutes, I think he's been one of Calgary's better forwards this season. (Backlund, Frolik, Brouwer and Ferland. Probably in that order IMO.)
He's been as advertised. It's not Brouwer's fault this team doesn't have a legitamite top line right winger.
