Elliott played well until the Flames took a number of undisciplined penalties. The loss wasn't his fault. It is 100% the fault of the league-worst PK.

Elliott, Hamilton, Tkachuk, Backlund and Frolik all played a strong game.

I think it's a combination. Can't win when the refs call garbage penalties, so the crappy PK wouldn't have to be used.

Too many guys were standing around on that 4th goal. Time to play Backlunds line as top line and let the others guys figure it out or earn it when they are ready. When you start benching players or lines too often it becomes micro managing and is not going to have the desired affect.

I would just reward the best players with ice time and make the others earn it.
