You know when you go into a thread and everyone already made the jokes you wanted to make?

No reason why we couldn't have colour on colour games from time to time.

Yes.

Do you really think their brand is so fickle that wearing white once a year will ruin the brand? That's asinine.

They were marketing the colour red for years before they wore red at home. If the NHL went back to whites at home full time, it wouldn't change anything about the marketing of the C of Red.

It would make it awkward.

"Come to the dome and wear red for the C of Red! Except our very own players won't join you in the effort"

Happy to see the transition to wearing team colours at home. I never once understood this and had every adult explain to kid me "because white means it's the good guys"

Yes. Our jerseys are now dated because just about every other team has moved on. Theyre a relic from the mid-oughts. It's time to either move on or go back to a timeless design.

Just wondering what is the flames record with those 3rd jerseys are. Seems like they play a lot worse with those things on!

Not really, actually. Red and white with gold accents were our colours in the 80s and early 90s, and there was, of course, the original C of Red beginning in 1986. But into the 2000s, black had largely replaced the red. In 2002-03, red was only an accent colour as our home unis were white and our roads black.

The NHL swapped the system in 2003-04 to make the dark jerseys the home uniforms. That presented an issue for the Flames, as it would have made the black horse head the primary home uniform. Thus, the redesign back to the Flaming C logo and a primarily red uniform. The horsehead was demoted back to alternate jersey. But at that time, you could still easily find all three sweaters at FanAttic.

After the 2004 playoff run and the commanding effect of the re-born C of Red -- nearly every team in the NHL and NBA embraced the idea and sought to replicate it -- the Flames began to deliberately and consistently market the "C of Red". So much so that buying the road whites is actively discouraged - you won't find them on the shelf at FanAttic on game days.

The Flames don't wear whites at home because they aren't interested in undermining something that has become, far more than any point in our previous history, a core component of the franchise's brand.

They never should have introduced black into the jerseys. A black
Flaming C looks burnt out. The 3rd jerseys are atrocious. And that blue Alberta flag on the road whites is an eyesore. Why does that even need to be on there?

I'd be happy if they brought back the retro uniforms full time. They're a reminder of the great Flames teams of the late 80's, early 90's. As long as they don't bring back the mid-90's ones with the Flaming C on a pedastal..... Mind you I still have one - a mint condition #12 Paul Kruse. I remember seeing a whole rack of them at the Flames store, on sale for $69.97 back in '96. Couple weeks later he was gone. I've never bought a Flames jersey since.
