I mean, many seemed inspired by his 'Hillary will be thrown in jail' rhetoric and immediately on election he does a full 180 and said she deserves respect and credit for all she's done for this country.

How many of these moments until they realize all his impassioned promises were hollow?

Forgive me if this link has been posted already, but there are some truly disgusting incidents happening down there as a result of Trump's win. It's incredibly sad that we'll likely be reading about this kind of crap for at least the next 4 years.

Student Moses Karngbaye said he was terrified to see racist graffiti sprawled inside a bathroom in his Minnesota high school.

The day after Trump's victory, someone painted racist messages referencing the election on a wall in Durham, North Carolina. "Black lives don't matter and neither does your votes," the message said, according to CNN affiliate WNCN.

A student at Shasta High School in Redding, California, posted a video on Twitter of himself handing letters with the word "deportation" written across the top to half a dozen students, school district Superintendent Jim Cloney said in a statement.
The students appeared to be of a variety of ethnicities, Cloney said. After talking to the student and his parents, the video was taken down, Cloney said. The student said he thought the video was funny, Cloney said.

Watching his presser with Obama just reinforced this tenfold. Worth a watch for those who haven't seen it yet.

He is not (or at least not entirely) the candidate he sold himself as. I think the David Dukes of the US are going to find themselves very disappointed.

Come on, no one can be surprised by this? This was the obvious fallback position for someone who has no interest in policy nor had any understanding of how government worked. His little 100 Day plan was a joke and anyone who knows how American politics works acknowledges that immediately. Washington runs on special interest money and influence, and Trump's immediate embracing of the Heritage Foundation, the most unethical of the Washington based think tanks, is proof he is just nothing but hot air and a bad haircut.

Define "high" expectations.

Trump supporters have very high exceptions of him. Building the biggest wall in history, banning Muslims, making existing Muslims register in a database, surveillance of mosques, dismantle NAFTA, dismantle TPP, repeal Obamacare, revamp the entire health system, destroy ISIS, etc, etc, etc.

It's funny how on one hand, a lot of "Trump supporters" are saying it was essentially a vote to protest the establishment, and then get upset when people protest about it. Like how dare you protest my protest!

Shaun King is a jackass, but yes, this stuff is really happening. Most of it, anyway. The fact that some people are selfishly making up stories for attention - or worse, think lying about them is justified because "Trump is just so terrible" - is arguably worse than people actually engaging in acts of hate. Many ordinary people will want to convince themselves that this stuff isn't really happening, and it's a lot easier if you can't easily tell what's real and what's not.

The same IDs we have, driver's license, passport, etc. If you don't have those things you don't have ID, no matter which country you're in.

I recalled some discussion of that story, and then thought, "hmm, I don't know how that whole controversy turned out... better double check that", and did, and found it to be dubious. So I took it out. Any objection to me fixing the part of my post that wasn't accurate? Is that not a thing we want people to do?
