I was more concerned about the oil being removed and having things fall apart again. The surgery doesn't bother me now though.
I'm on the coast. It's Dr. Erasmus.
Really good guy.

Been getting into Kelly Starretts books. Big changes in the last 6 months with his techniques. I recommend his books to anyone looking to get serious with lifting.

Finally motivated to lose weight, tone up and gain muscle mass again after a long hiatus. I am wondering if anyone can suggest a lactose free protein powder that taste good and won't give me the runs, this of course will be part of more sensible eating and work out. Thanks in advance.

I'm lactose intolerant too. Theoretically all protein powders should have virtually no lactose in them. I found that I had some digestion issues, but that was actually unrelated to how lactose free the protein powders claimed to be. Protein powders just cause indigestion.
Like Peter said, I'd go with real foods instead. Lean meats like Chicken and Fish. Steak is even fine, just in moderation and avoid putting too many sides and fixings on it.

Yum, chicken breast in shakes, oatmeal, and pancakes... this debate has gone on forever. Its about having variety and convenience in the protein section of your diet- and at a a low cost per serving. Im pretty sure there is going to be enough chicken in the average gym goers diet as it is, with or without whey protein.
Dymatize, Rivalus, and Revolution Isolates are all lactose free and pretty much available at any supplement store or online store. Most isolates are very low on lactose, but those 3 are 100% lactose free. It is the concentrates that have higher levels of lactose and cause the stomach issues- and unfortunately, the concentrates typically taste way better.

Mix your shakes with almond milk instead of regular milk.

I think, aside from the lactose-intolerance crap, you should just eat normally and exercise a lot. You might not look gloriously fit, but you will feel infinitely better about yourself. Never go down the road of pushing for an impossible body while putting yourself through the awful penalty of drinking protein shakes.

The purpose of the chicken is to keep calories down in the meal. The fact of the matter is that unless you are competing for Mr. O, you probably don't need more protein than a balanced diet will give you.
You can use shakes for meal replacement if time is an issue, but you're much better off making larger portions and then freezing.
As far as costs goes, once you add all the fruit, oats, etc.. to the protein shake, to turn it into a true meal replacement (400+ calories) you aren't really saving anything.
This is coming from someone who used to buy into the whole protein supplement thing and would order crates of the stuff from bodybuilding.com.

Kaizen stuff from Costco is lactose free. Tastes good, good price. 30g per shot.

Does anyone know a gym in Calgary that has a curve treadmill machine...a treadmill that's curved? I'm using one in Toronto and it's really cool.

It's better for sprinting.
Which is fair in Calgary as it's pretty tough to sprint outside in winter, and not all gyms have a track.

No it's kind of different. It takes a lot of the impact off your joints and you can increase your intensity just by running faster. Running uphill is really bad for you according to a chiropractor i went to. It engages more muscles for sure. I really liked it. No electricity either.

For sprinting I think the Oval's running track is a pretty economical solution for winter. I looked into it and it was $90 or something for Sept through March.
