I feel like something is in the water in the Saddledome. The Flames just seem to have lost all hockey sense.

Does the coaching staff do their homework on opposing teams? It really doesn't look like it. I mean a plan on how to handle the other teams top guys. The lack of any coherent plan is alarming.

This team honestly should be performing much better. If Flames still are doing whatever it is they're doing, it should be done while there's still lots of the season remaining. Late November the latest.

But hopefully the players get their head out of their ass much sooner than that so it doesn't have to come to that point.

I assume that everyone is aware that if this were to happen, Ryan Huska or Dave Cameron would be the next coach of the Flames...

This team so far is almost unrecognisable in this season. Who are these guys in Flames jerseys?

They look outnumbered on the power play. I'm trying to be optimistic but this team is just playing end to end awful.

Is it the system? The players? The goaltending? The coaching? Or is it what I fear most....

Just for kicks, here is the list of coaches Flames could have tried to hire;

Mike Yeo ( Recent Play off experience)
Bruce Boudreau (Recent playoff experience)
Randy effen Carylr (1 SC) (still don't want him)

GG - no playoff experience whatsoever .

I said it at the time Hartley was let go, but I doubt any coach with other options was going to take the Calgary job. We fired a coach one-season removed from earning a Jack Adams. What coach with other NHL options wants to work for a team so ready to pull the trigger on a HC?

Once we fired Hartley, it was obvious we were going to have to go off the board.
