Exactly! The first PP, Stajan failed to tie up Erbele. How can you not able to tie up that Midget?

Yep, Ristolainen asked to participate in Buffalo's camp despite not having a contract as a sign of good will.

Maybe I just expected a lot more after getting creamed in Wed. Ok I get it first game in new building, all that hype, I didn't sweat the loss too much. Tonight though I was expecting a fire to be lit and keep going. They had it in the first and then what? outskilled or outplayed?
The breakaways against, in my opinion were mostly because our defensemen looked as slow as snails more that the Oilers being better. I think we gave them both games. Too many mistakes on Wednesday and only playing 20 minutes today. Granted the Oilers took advantage it.

Well the 1st year we still had the remnants of the extremely disappointing late 2000's era team, Bowman wouldn't have got them to the playoffs and his last year he had the worst goaltending in the league, not exactly a coaching problem. I was really hoping he would've gotten one more year with a new goaltender duo. But I digress, this has been talked about ad nauseam. I really believe this cant be an accurate picture of Gulutzan's system/coaching, just hope the kinks get worked out quickly.

I am hoping that is the last game we ever see from Dennis Wideman again.

Send him to Stockton.

I would seriously rather see any of Wotherspoon/Kulak/Culkin/Andersson/Kylington out there instead because at least they have foot speed and some presence of mind not to turn pucks over at the offensive blue line for multiple breakaways.

That's at least 2 points he's cost us in the standings, maybe 3 or 4 as that McDavid Penalty shot killed the Flames attempt at a comeback.

Some thoughts:
Dont u hate it when the pvr recording doesn't cover the full game. 10 min left in the 3rd and the recording stopped (and I thought I extended the record stop time by an hour)

Top line invisible, gaudreau was a complete non-factor

2nd line is ok but just like the preseason, for all the chances created, they actually don't generate goals

Special teams were terrible. Creating a diamond the size of a puck while the opposition skill players play tic tac toe till it opens up is a stupid strategy. Pp, no comment.

D was better tonight. But simple awareness seems to be missing, which I think is on the coach. Oilers are a one player team, contain him and let the rest take care of itself. I don't care if the flames don't score when McDavid is ever on the ice. He's so good that the line playing him , particularly the d should just focus on not giving up transition plays. That breakaway play was ugly on the flames d.

Another crap game from ferland. If he can't figure out a way to make an impact I'd rather see f. Hamilton in.

Bottom 6 forwards outside of ferland have played well.

Elliott was fine tonight.

I wanted a experienced coach who brings know how to this group. These young coaches don't really give much confidence. Not feeling great about the hire thud far.

Lastly, team looks like it has 1 high skill player yet expect to play a high skill game. Need to find an identity. Flames look like senators west.... few skill guys, ok non-flashy forwards outside of that. Defense that actually sucks at playing defense and ok but not game stealing goaltending. Gm and coach best determine the identity of this team quick.

On the bright side, Deadwood is now on demand on Telus if you have HBO.

Mike Keenan was legitimately the worst coach in franchise history.

Our defencemen pinch too much for my liking. The Oilers knew this and had players waiting for that breakway pass when one of their players blocked a shot. One of our d men should sit back a bit and help prevent all these odd man rushes we give up.

I like his game doesn't seem to be afraid of being a bit of the pest. Think it was in the first where Talbot had covered the puck and he wasn't afraid to start a scrum by giving a push against Gryba.
