Kulak stays. Wotherspoon and Ferland packaged in trade to make room to sign Kris Russell to a 1 year 2.8 million dollar deal. Wideman's skating a major concern at training camp.

I'd rather give Nakladal a 2 year $1M one way deal. And he'd take it too.

I too would prefer Nak to a more expensive Russell.

FWIW: Brodie has primarily played on the right side since going pro.

Kind of compare this to how the Sharks handled Demers and Braun when they first entered. They did a lot of learning while in the NHL. Bring them up, shelter their minutes, and tell them everything is off the glass and out/up the boards. If they could adhere to low risk play, then they got minutes to learn. These two had a little more scoring in minors, but seem similar to kulak, spoon and morrison. Spoon has more experience in AHL than these two had. Kulak less. But point is....maybe don't have to be totally polished to hold down the job.
Pick the guy who has most career upside vs pick the safest/most developed of the three. So i would go with Kulak

It really depends on if they're primarily going to be the #7 sitting in the press box or if they're going to be getting into games.
If it's someone to fill the press box (and maybe slot in as #6 skating 5 minutes a night), my instinct say to let Wotherspoon take that role again.
If it's someone that's going to factor into games (and has a chance to move up the lineup), I would probably lean toward Kulak. I think he has real upside and need to play in order to continue to develop.

Wideman should be the #7.

Kulak for me with Spoon being a close second. Wouldn't complain if it was flipped. I think there's a step down to Morrison but not a huge one. He needs to show he can play at that level in Stockton for most of the season to show he can instead of how he flamed out the season after he signed.

I will say Spoon because he's done his time as a prospect and since his contract gives him a little more opportunity. Kulak has to be that much better than Spoon for the Flames to risk giving him away on waivers

The Sea of Tranquility is one of the places he can't be traded.

My thinking as well. Might as well keep the asset.

I'd go with Witherspoon to start at least. I feel like Witherspoon has been okay this preseason. Kulak has been good as well, I just don't think he's been that much better to risk possibly losing an asset. Morrison has been pretty meh for me so I don't really think he's in the conversation. Good on him though for showing some improvement. From a healthy scratch at times last season to looking like an option down the road possibly.

All three of them are in the final year of their ELCs. We will probably see all three of them at some point during the season in order to determine who to qualify and who to release.
I would expect this is a make-or-break year for Morrison more than the other two. He's 24 years old, at this point we're starting to get an idea of who he is.
