Newsweek got some court documents and says trump either committed perjury or lied during a debate.

It would be nice if these news stories just stuck to the facts, it would seriously be more damaging. That article is written with such an obvious bias that you would think the author was a paid member of the Clinton team. I forced myself to keep reading it to see what the evidence was, and it seems to be a legitimate reason to criticize Trump, but if I just came across the article by myself I would never have gotten that far. Journalism these days is such a joke.

It was.
It was written by a Clinton supporter or it was written by an independent journalist being bombarded Clinton mercenaries.

So Clinton got slimed by a smear merchant, and was so impressed that they hired him.
OK.
Why did you respond to that like my post was a discredited falsehood?
It's relevant, true, and links to an article published today.

Dude, you've been asked to stop with that email thing, more than once, and I'm pretty sure you said you'd stop. It's not even news, in fact I think you yourself have already tried to "raise awareness" on this, or what ever it is you think you're doing.
Are you bombarding so many forums with this stuff that you start forgetting what you've linked where now?
Just give it a rest already. (...but I'm now so sure you won't stop until the election is over that I'll just put you on ignore until then.)

It was published today. I'm confident I haven't linked it before.
I don't recognize your authority to revoke my posting privleges. It's a simple link with no arguments or editorializing by me, just ignore it if it doesn't interest you.

Actually Brock had an attack of conscience toward the end of the 90's and decided to blow the whistle on the dirty tricks going on in the Republican attempts to get Clinton impeached. He exposed the playbook and was influential in developing counter measures. The fact he's gone to work for the Clintons is surprising. I'd be interesting in knowing his motivations.

I was just pointing out that this is SOP for campaigns of all sorts. You haven't stumbled on anything new or enlightening.
What I find ironic is that this biased liberal media you keep complaining about keep coming up with these negative articles about the Clinton campaign. Why is the biased conservative media not ripping Trump to sheds and all over his non-stop stream of lies? The difference is that one side does journalism and the other side maintains message discipline in making sure nothing sticks to their candidate. The later just happens to be one of those strategies that Brock spoke about in his book, and what Dr. Frank Luntz makes big bank managing for the Republicans.

Glenn Beck is still calling him Hitler (though he may 'bend the knee' too, now that Cruz has) and Mark Levin is advocating for Trump as "barely better than the alternative."
They're as biased as they come.
I actually think Chris Wallace will do a respectable job when moderating the 3rd debate - based on his performance in this election cycle. ('truth-squad' quote notwithstanding)
As for my whining about libreal media - I have endorsed Slate's Trumpcast which has covered Trump's lies rather brutally, and pledged fealty to Maddow in this thread.
If you want to understand my motivations - it's not much more complicated than "butt-hurt Bernie Bro. " I saw these same narrative-controlling tactics of yours being welded as a cudgel against his supporters, and I have very little respet for it.
That said, I think our personal spats are detracting from the quality of the thread. I will not be shouTed down for posting. Take it up with the mods.

Really interesting story about Carter Page, a "Russian Energy Expert" that Trump said in the WaPo editorial interview was one of his foreign affairs advisers. Turns out, the guy is something of an incredibly interesting fraud. This article is less sensational and more just really interesting look into Russia's Energy/Political mesh. Worth the relatively long read:

Following up on the Ted Cruz news;
I'm really fascinated by their dynamic, Cruz and Trump, who I think are both clowns lacking in moral fibre or ideological integrity.
During the primaries they had an alliance with each other - not bashing to the press & propping each other up in debates.
Once they emerged as the final two, Trump slammed him with the most tabloid-worthy attacks of the primaries; your wife is ugly, your father killed JFK, and you're the Zodiac killer. These are caricatures of political attacks - too silly to really damage Cruz, but outrageous enough to dominate the conversation.
It's almost a Vince McMahon/WWF story arc. Trump's campaign is a reality TV script where he's the 'heel' taking all the heat from the noble candidates (Cruz) and devastating the incredulous announcers (Megyn Kelly) as the audience is riveted.
The RNC convention is, quintessentially, a promotion for the 'real event' - like the last WWF episode before a PPV event is pure promotion. And the 'promo' featured Ted Cruz speaking in a primetime speaking slot - while Trump shows up with his posse and stares him down. That's a staple of the Vince McMahon playbook.
Also, the Trump entrance on day one of the convention.
Now, just before the first debate, Cruz comes out to endorse Trump. Instead of being washed away with all the other endorsements (like Rubio) - this endorsement can shape the narrative among their loyalists.
It's like Bret Hart agreeing to help his rival Shawn Michaels now that he's the only chance to stop the unholy alliance of The Undertaker and Kane. My WWF analogy is falling apart, buy hopefully you know where I'm going with that.
The Cruz endorsement doesn't carry much weight in our crowd, but he was the second most popular GOP candidate, and Trump desperately needs to secure their support.
The WWE uses the same formula to make the storyline predictable and digestible for the audience. Trump is taking these tropes and injecting himself into saviour role.
If he wins, I'm thinking Ted Cruz will come out a winner too.
