If you want some hilarious liberal echo chamber poilitics

Keepin' it 1600 is hilarious. Its host by two former Obama admin speech writers/press guys. Terribly biased but funny.

I also really like 99% invisible which is a history of design type podcast that touches on everything. Tough to describe but really how choices made to incentivise or how things were designed or operated affected how people interact with stuff.

Back up, third season of Norm MacDonald Live. First episode with Stephen Merchant. Was up earlier but got pulled for some reason.

"Anything Ghost". Basically, the host, Lex, is reading listener submitted ghost experiences. Can be pretty creepy at times -- if you believe in that sort of stuff.

Hardcore History.

Loving the WW1 series that is still accessible for free on their feed. Gonna pay for the WW2 series and Genghis Khan series when I'm finished WW1.

Wrath of Khans is one of the best audio productions I've ever heard. Dan is a fantastic storyteller.

Finally sat down and watched this. That last long joke by Norm just about did me in. God I missed him.

Norm tells a 9 minute joke on Howard Stern:

Some Stern trivia I just saw - "Robin Quivers has an estimated net worth of $45 million, with yearly salary of $10 million".

Episode Two! Bill Hader. Good episode, no jokes at the end though.

They talk about having David Letterman as a guest towards the end of this one, that'd be amazing. Conan has been rumoured as well.

The William F Buckley-esque intro had me in stitches.

I just came across 10 Minute Podcast after listening to Will Sasso on Chewin' It.

Bryan Callen, Chris D., and Will Sasso are hilarious in it.

After CBC's cancellation of Wiretap Jonatahn Goldstein is back with Heavyweight. Listened to the first three episodes and it's a brilliant podcast. #3 Tara is particularly moving and seems personal for Goldstein.
https://www.ft.com/content/98877c0a-...7-e7ada1d123b1

Quote:
If Heavyweight, the new US podcast hosted by Jonathan Goldstein, tells us anything, it’s that grudges shouldn’t be left to fester. The show, commissioned by Gimlet Media, home of StartUp and Reply All, is about identifying the moment when human relationships go wrong. So far no fights have broken out, though hearing the testimonies of the bitter and broken-hearted is, for the listener, a bit like being punched in the gut.
Quote:
In the latest episode Goldstein recalls a video made by a fellow student at his art college that has haunted him ever since. Made in the late 1980s, the film was called Anger and featured the stories of young punks, warring couples and people plotting revenge. At the time Goldstein had been struck by a woman who cried as she described the experience of being “intersex”, and by the little girl who sat next to her, staring blankly into the camera as her mother sobbed. “She sits there as though absorbing radiation,” says Goldstein. He wanted to know what had happened to her.

Goldstein is a former producer on This American Life, the wellspring from which scores of brilliant podcasts have emerged, and the presenter of the now-defunct WireTap, a critically adored show on Canada’s CBC radio network.
Quote:
There are similarities here to WireTap, specifically in Goldstein’s archly charismatic delivery and his reliance on friends and family as subject matter. But while on that show the suspicion lingered that the contributors could be actors, there’s no sign of artifice here. Heavyweight depends on Goldstein’s personal connection to his subjects and his directness as an interviewer. He is, it seems, impervious to discomfort — Louis Theroux without the gaucheness.

Heavyweight is awesome. I didn't really bother listening to the first episode since it was mostly covered in This American Life. It's well done, heartfelt, emotional, and pretty funny. The Moby episode had me laughing a few times.

"How do you sarcastically ask to pass the water?"

Is there a way to listen to podcasts at work without downloading them to my phone? I don't like using the data for them and rarely remember to download at home.

Like on your work computer? You can access podcast through iTunes, Tune-In Radio or Spotify.

Most" podcasts" can be listened to straight off whatever website they are on. They are just audio files and most people producing them put a player on their site.

I use a piece of software called Juice which downloads the podcast to your (work) computer so you can consume them there.

You could also connect your phone to Wifi at work and download on your phone without using data.
