BP Cycle has some decent prices ($900 to $1,200) on some lower end Norco products http://bpcycle.com/bikes/fat-bike.html

Last yr the hard working boys are Rocky Mtn had an offering for about $1,200.

I have a Trek Farley 5 which was around $1,800.

Pinkbike/Kijiji could also be an option to explore

my daughter has a similar crash on the red earth trail in Banff - she now only rides her bike to/from school. Hopefully your daughter is more determined than mine.

My kids are both confounding. My 10 year old won't ride his bike. Flat out refuses. Too scared of it. Not sure what he's scared of, he won't even try. For a guy who loves it as much as I do, this is slowly killing me.

Daughter was late to the party, learning to ride at age 7. I have some hope for her as she's more determined.

My 6 year old refused. he was too scared. I put him in a learn to bike camp this summer, and he did wonderfully.

Pedalhead works great and makes you feel like a failure as a parent when they can ride a bike at the end of day 1.

I feel ya man - my son also only sees his bike as a mode of transport, and he typically chooses to walk places.

my daughter is away this weekend and I was hoping that my wife, son and I could go out and ride some of the high rockies trail - my son did not want to go, I then begged him as a favour for all of the driving for hockey and the answer was still no - so I may head out Saturday on my own as I have been wanting to ride this trail for a while now and figure this is likely my last chance of the year.

It would be awesome to go riding as a family

Probably won't work for many other kids, but I taught my daughter (just turned 4 at the time) to ride in the middle of winter. Framed it as a weird and novel cool thing to do when it was freezing outside. Hit Centennial parking garage (5th floor is empty and quiet on Sundays). Put out the pylons and worked on some skills and went for froyo afterwards. Now, at 5, I've got her eager to ride. She's trying all sorts of tricks (taking both feet off the pedals, riding with 1 hand) and there is a constant "daddy look at me".

So, yeah, froyo is the key. Feed the kid froyo.

Idea just occurred to me. I havent had a bike to tow my kid's half-a-bike since I sold the roubaix. Wondering if I could kill 2 birds with one stone. Get a fatty and a 2nd 700c wheelset, swap wheels depending on the season. The question now is whether or not it's possible to lace a skinny 700c rim to a big fatty hub for that summer wheel set. Anyone know?

How do the Farleys compare to the 2016 Norco Bigfoot 6.2?
(my non-mechanically inclined eyes having a difficult time breaking down the differences)

a quick look at all three bikes suggests that the Norco bigfoot 6.2 and the Farley 5 look very similar and seemed priced around $1,800. The trek has a 2x drivetrain - while the Norco looks like a 1x (decided for yourself which si better)

the Farley 7 ($2,400) seems to be two lbs lighter and is better equipped.

So it is official I am a donkey......I had my cheap dropper post somewhat installed on my bike; however the post was a little long and I could no get it set to where I wanted it - so today I decide I needed to trim about 1.5 inches from the bottom of the post, so I pull out my saw and start cutting after I get thru I realize I just messed up the post and cut away part of the innards......I was so focused on cutting the post, I did not think to look inside......

So, now my options are no dropper, or get a giant contact dropper from my lbs.......fata me!!!
