Thanks Puxlut. I'm gonna be in a good mood for the rest of the day.

I don't remember this song being twelve (twe e e e e lve) minutes long. It's the In-da-gadda-da-vita of kids songs!

Love this thread.

Daughter loved Elmo and especially the episode with Feist. Son never really liked it.

Never had a favourite character form what I can recall, likely Cookie Monster. I was more a Muppet Show kid (can't imagine any kid-like show having that Alice Cooper story line today. The Evangelical groups would be up in arms like you've never seen before).

I always loved Ernie as a kid but now I can't enough of Grover. He is just great. Also Cookie Monster is pretty good in the newer episodes as well.

This was the song I always remembered for counting to 12. Funny I never remembered the verses, but hearing them now it makes sense - what did I know about fire insurance when I was 5?

Also, I always catch myself singing this tune randomly.

This one had my mom and myself in tears, and I first saw it well after my SS viewing years. Nobody I know knows this skit but Kermit still makes me laugh.

What ever happened to her?

I always liked Grover, Oscar, and Ernie. Different show, but the most awesome Muppets were the Swedish Chef and Beaker.

Telly was my favourite too. I also like the "Here is Your Life" sketches they did with Guy Smiley.

I think the Ernie with the banana in his ear sketches are what turned me into a skeptic.

If we're ok with treating this as a general Jim Henson nostalgia thread, the "Mahna Mahna" clip still holds up.

Oh man, or Teeny Little Super Guy!

They have a version of this book for the iPad that is amazing. Fully animated and interactive. Voiced by Grover. My kids loved it when they were younger.

Grover was the best, followed closely by Cookie Monster, the Count, and Bert. Bert was the logical Muppet.

I bought a Grover t-shirt from a women's clothing store and wore it till it fell apart. The clerk tried to warn me, "Um, that's a girl's shirt." Yah whatever, Grover don't respect your gender boundaries, biznitch. He belongs to the People.

The quality of their programming is second to none when it comes to children's shows.

I had a childhood fear of the telephone aliens as the creep factor was off the charts with that skit.
