Non existent? What games have you been watching? He forced the turnover on RNH's goal in game 1 and made the play on the opening goal in game 2. He's been causing turnovers all over the ice, drew a penalty, made some great passes and had lots of chances to boot. He walked Josi pretty hard.

I'd have to agree that Matthews was no slouch. Couple of head turning dangles, and nothing but effort out there.

Mathews has been very good, especially considering he has yet to play an NHL game and playing against NHL veterans. I would not be surprised if he turns out to be better than McDavid in the long run. Note he hasn't even gone though a full NHL training camp yet.

Who cares if hes ever played an NHL game? McDavid was the best player in the NHL way before he ever played an NHL game.

Matthews cant compete with that.

I am not sure if you're sarcastic or not, but just no.

Kane, Crosby, Benn, Ovechkin, Price, Holtby, Toews, Kopitar take your pick.

If you know Locke, he's almost always sarcastic. Green text is implied with everything he writes.

Who is that? I hear that name all the time. Has he ever played a full NHL season before?

From the first two games I expected a bit more from McDavid TBQH. No doubt he is a very talented player as he is creating chances. I just thought he would use his teammates a bit better. I think a little of that comes from the hype surrounding him that has been forced down our throats.

Also that blazing down the right side and throwing a back-hander on the net isn't working so much at this level. I think teams are staring to figure him out a bit so he needs to adapt/change things up.

Matthews has been most impressive in the neutral zone and on the backcheck.

It is silly to put any stock into these pre tourney games. However, McDavid looked a little out of sorts.

Gaudreau looks to be in midseason form. Motivated by contract talks perhaps?

I think Europe will be better in the Tourney. They seemed to put it together in the second half of the game.

Europe needs to get rougher.

They don't have that rat agitator though do they?

Being sarcastic doesnt mean wrong!

Everyone remembers the Oilers and the Media anointing McJesus as the saviour before he'd ever so much as stepped on NHL ice.

How do you think he got the nickname? Because he can walk on water?

Team Europe is, I think, what most people were skeptical of in this tournament.

A hodgepodge group with no real identity and seemingly nothing to play for. Kind of like the kid that gets thrown in to make up the numbers.

^ I don't think team "Rest Of" has anything to get rough about. its not personal, and the game was meaningless.

they should have had a Team World instead. Pick the best remaining players from anywhere, then you get get a bunch of players with a chip and something to prove

Not sure if they've been using Gostisbehere correctly.. he hasn't been set up for a one timer too much. Maybe Gaudreau can start dishing him

This is essentially what it would be.

The point of Team Europe is for other Countries to be represented that can't ice a full competitive team. You'll bet Countries like Norway and Slovenia might actually have fans watching the tournament because they're invested in a team.

And they're still more competitive than half the Olympic Qualifying teams are.
