I just can't fathom the difference in standard held between Trump and Clinton. Like, I really don't understand it.
I mean, I understand the whole "screw up so much, nothing seems like a disaster" thing from a psychological perspective, but I don't get how seemingly intelligent people can't see the huge gap of quality between them.

I don't know why she's even apologizing. It's completely true that a large segment of his support base is deplorable human garbage. Everyone loves Trump for telling it like it is, why the double standard?

Saying half is labeling over 50 million Americans as racist, homophobic, xenophobic, whatever it is she said.
Dumb statement, but no worse than Romney or anything Trump has said.

What she said is "half of trump supporters" Trump supporters are, being generous, 40% of the electorate half of which is about 28 million people.

I'm trying to think of a statement that Trump has made that is worse. Can't think of one.

"They're rapists and murderers. And some, I assume, are good people."
When referring to a neighboring nation and one of it's largest trading partners, whose illegal labour his businesses exploits.

Yeah no kidding, Trump has always been respectful and has insulted no one during this election or ever in his entire life. Ever. He says what he means and means what he says.

I don't think it would be much of an exaggeration to say that nearly all racists, misogynists, xenophobes, and islamophobes who are voting will vote for Trump, and really that's the approach that Clinton should have used for this particular argument. The question of what portion of Trump's support is composed of this element is not a good approach though. But ultimately this isn't going to hurt her that much, because her own side agrees with the statement enthusiastically, and the small portion of reluctant Trump supporters that she needs to convert probably aren't going to be offended.

I have Buster on ignore so I can try and avoid these troll attempts.
She called about 25 Million people "racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, islamaphobic, you name it". That's fairly close to the truth. There's 15% of people do not approve of interracial marriages. About 32% of white Americans think Black's are "lazy" (general society survey). She's not far off.
As for what Trump has said that's worse?
-Characterizing Mexican immigrants as Rapists and criminals. Over, and over, and over again despite clear evidence to the contrary (why might be be doing that?)
-"If Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?" - casually demeaning women's role in leadership
-"I'd bring back waterboarding and I'd bring back a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding" - casually ignoring humanity
-"No more massive injections. Tiny children are not horses - one vaccine at a time, over time." - Dr Trump also talked about all the autism he's seen from vaccinations
-"Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys wearing yarmulkes... Those are the only kind of people I want counting my money. Nobody else... Besides that, I tell you something else. I think that's guy's lazy. And it's probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks." - John O'Donnell's book that Trump affirmed was true, before denying he's said it when he decided to run for president
Buster has decided on his own view of overt racism being all that exists, so nothing but explicit "one race is better than another" can be called racist. Despite logic dictating otherwise because a cartoonist said so

That's not the full quote,... Which in context was much less offensive than people realize.
Either way it's still not as bad as calling 25 percent of your country's population deplorable.

There seems to be some weird math going on here. Half of the people in the States don't support Trump, so half of his supporters doesn't = 25% of the population.
It was not a smart thing for her to say, since she's a politician, but I'm not a politician so I can say that way more than half of Trump supporters are morons.

Yeah, it's like 28 million people. About 120 million people vote, of that 40% support Trump, half of that number is about 28 million people, which is about 9% of the US population.
I'm prepared to agree that 9% of the United States is at least one of "homophobic, racist, xenophobic, etc."

Just to play devils advocate , while 10% of the US population may be one of those things, your math is then assuming everyone of them voted .
If we assume the same % vote as non racists, etc, she effectively is calling 25% of the country these things

Half of Trump voters is 20% of the country, as polling has consistently shown Trump between 36-40% popular support. So statistically speaking suggesting 20% hold at least one view of hatred is probably underselling it (Islamophobia alone has to be over 30%). Now that doesn't change that it was a stupid comment because it has limited upside and strong downside, but the comment itself isn't offensive or wrong at all. I would say the best comparable hear is Obama with the "clinging to their guns and religion" comment. I actually never thought Romney's 47% thing had much impact, I thought binders full of women sunk him much worse.

Your math is off.
She didn't mention "voters". She said "supporters".
