Similar to the poster above, myself and my closest friends were raised that way too, so it must definitely be a cultural thing (Eastern European).

There are other valuable things you learn to do living on your own. Living within a budget, buying groceries, cooking, paying bills, doing laundry, keeping a place clean.
Again, I find it quite interesting that women move out on their own at a younger age than men. Young men tend to be coddled by their mothers, especially in more traditional cultures. The problem is when one of those guys has to learn how to do all that domestic stuff once he's 30 years old and married - especially if it's to a woman who doesn't come from a traditional culture.

Damn, I did this many times when I lived at home. It was easy for me though since my room was in the basement and my parents are pretty heavy sleepers.
Eventually my parents caught on and gave me the ''this isn't a hotel'' speech.

If I had ever brought a one-night stand home, I would have been thrown into space.

Haha you're painting us sitting in the basement like:
It is possible to live at home and contribute. I vacuum the house and clean the washrooms, buy groceries, do laundry. The only difference is the house bills and mortgage.
Really guys, it's not as bad as you make it out to be! Didn't think it'd be such a controversial topic...

Just to be clear, I am not trying to brag or be a dick. I am just illustrating the benefits of staying home. It can pay off in the end if you play your cards right.
|
The only purpose one could have to describe their house as a "million dollar house", instead of perhaps our "dream home" or something along that like is to brag.
Anyways, no matter how much money you save from waiting a while longer to move out and save money, you are only buying a million dollar house when you have the income to support it.
Iggy would have to live with his parents a lot longer than age 33 to have saved up the capital to drop down the required amount for a house like that without the equity to support it.

Yeah pretty big. I'm pretty much screwed, how will ever I survive in this cruel world without knowing the hardships in it.
Judge me if you'd like.

I'm not trying to bully you here, I've just got the distinct feeling from reading the thread that you don't have a firm grasp on the responsibilities of being a real adult despite being financially ready and of age to face reality. I honestly don't know what you are waiting for.

Guy's banging his girlfriend at her parents place, has 75k in the bank and has exceptionally low monthly expenses.
Pretty sure he's got this one figured out, matt.

Off topic, but this reminds me of a game me and my ex used to play every morning that I stayed at her house. She lived near Back Alley, with my buddy and his sister. My buddy's room was the basement, and the rest of us slept up on the top floor. He'd go to Crack Alley and pick up some dirty, and bring her home. The guy's success rate was unbelievable. So my ex and I used to play this game called "will there be shoes". Basically, we would bet on whether there were random girl's shoes by the back door, and the loser would have to pay for breakfast. Some days there were pink high heels. Other days there were gothic army boots. You just never knew, would there be shoes.
