^^ Kipper didn't start his career as a Flame, but he retired as one after a pretty long tenure.
Gio would be next in line (save for his year in Russia). Brodie and Monahan seem like good bets to follow.
Gaudreau on the other hand... </greentext>

Glad I got my Ramo signed so I can retire that one.
I wore my Glencross for a few games last season though. If you own the jersey wear it - No one will heckle you.

I will continue to wear my Jason Wiemer jersey with pride as I believe it may be the only one in existence. Never had anyone heckle me for wearing it. Even had his cousin come up to me one night and shake my hand for having it.

The only question you need to ask about your attire before entering the Saddledome is this: "Is it red?"

Saw a guy with a Tj galiardi T-shirt in Lethbridge the other day. I thought it had to be Tj himself....

When was the last time the Flames had a career lifer? And i mean one that wasn't just a cup of coffee kind of player. I'm thinking Hakan Loob maybe? And his tenure was shorter than most star players.

The same goes for any player for any team, the era of the one-team player is pretty much dead.

I have a kids large Tanguay jersey that I give to dates who don't have jerseys. That thing has become like one of those travelling teddy bears of bad decisions.

True, unless you are the Detroit Red Wings. Recent lifers include Yzerman, Lidstrom, Datsyuk and in all likelihood, Zetterberg.
I suppose Doan should probably count with the Phoenix and former Jets franchise.
Then there are the Sedins, who I bet will go back to Sweden if the Canucks ever decide to drop them.
There are certainly fewer and fewer every year it seems.

If you pay to go to a hockey game - you can wear whatever you like.

Is it ok to wear the jersey of a player whose number was retired? Just asking. Seems like it should be ok.

Wear whatever you like ...
... unless you're concerned about getting negative reaction or chirping, in which I'd make some suggestions.
Don't wear the jersey of an ex-player:
- if they are still playing in the NHL. The only exception to the rule is Iginla.
- in a style different to the one he actually wore on the ice (like an 1989 Gaudreau or 2004 McDonald)
I've seen jerseys where the nameplate is crossed out with hockey or duct tape Personally I think those are funny.

False. A guy can wear a Hudler or Russell to a Flames game. What's wrong with that?

I'm really not sure why this thread has gone on so long. You bought or wear a flames jersey. Is it a player you thought was good and turned out bad? So be it. You support the team. That's all that matters. Wear the jersey with pride, because in my opinion we are here to support through the good and bad. Go Flames go!

It's not categorically wrong. Was only offered as a way to minimize the chances of being criticized, if that were even a concern.
To backtrack a bit:
Wear whatever you want.

Just make sure it's a Red Flames jersey is my motto. I do get a laugh when I see an obscure past Flames jersey on a fan though. Like Petr Buzek.

My all-time favourite is a Jesse Wallin Flames jersey. I have seen two.
