Saunders missed a fly ball against the wall that any MLB outfielder should catch. The ball bounced off the wall to Upton, who fell on his ass and an inside the park homerun followed.

Well I guess no one wants to talk about the Blue Jays after giving up a 5-0 lead. Tuned back in and they are up 6-5 after 7, so there is hope.

No magic for the Cleveland's tonight!
Houston looks like they're going to beat Baltimore and the Red Sox are up 3-1 but game is in a rain delay in the bottom of the 5th.

Edwin hit a shot to Neptune two pitches after Sanchez gave up a 5-run lead.
Pay the man his money.

Celebrated Square Root Day

Yeah, I'm actually optimistically hoping for scenario A: Sign Edwin to what he's worth, to keep our offense decent next season, and importantly to keep him off a division rival as that's exactly where he's going if we don't get him. Then take advantage of Bautista's struggling, injury filled season and sign him much cheaper than he was originally commanding.
Not to get too AlpineOrical but as someone who wanted Edwin over Bautista I fear that scenario B is shaping up: Take Bautista as he'll be more cost effective, let Edwin walk....directly onto a division rival's roster.
Which would still be better than scenario C: Let them both walk. Which I could also see happen.

Great job by the bullpen tonight. Benoit and Grilli have really nailed down the 7th and 8th innings. Biagini also threw two nice innings to kill the tribes momentum. Had it been anything like this in April the Jays likely have a 4 game lead.

Probably a lot more than that even.
O's got clobbered by Houston again today, would be nice if the Tigers could come back and beat the Red Sox though. I wouldn't be shocked if the O's fall out of the AL race now, but we will see. They're 2.5 back of the Jays now.
Also, don't look now but the stupid Royals are hot as hell, have won 7 straight and have clawed their way back into the wild card race. 3 games over 500 and only 4.5 back of the 2nd wild card now.
At this point there are a lot of teams in contention for a playoff spot. With the Indians and Texas looking good to win their divisions, there are roughly 8 teams still battling for the other three spots with Toronto, Baltimore, Boston, New York, Detroit, KC, Seattle and Houston all in the mix.

I think its more of a temporary roster move for flexibility before the rosters expand. He has options and can work out just the same in single A as he can in the Majors between starts. With the 6 man rotation it leaves the bull pen short an arm.

no, he's skipping a start
his next start will be August 31st, so it opens up a slot to bring up a BP pitcher
also it was pointed out since he's basically just going down to hang out for 10 days, they sen him to Florida to relax, rather than Buffalo

@SNBarryDavis: Sanchez can stick around the team for 3 days, then report to Dunedin to workout and throw. Will rejoin rotation in 10 days. #bluejays

The Indians 2 through 7 hitters are all hitting within 15 points of .300. That's remarkable.

2-0 Jays bottom of 3
Upton with his third dinger as a Jay. Starting to produce a bit offensively now.
Why is Tulo DHing the last two games?

Plagued by a calf injury, so likely trying to give it some rest by not playing him in the field. Truthfully anything that forces Smoak out of the lineup helps the offence.
