Didn't want to start a new thread. I actually didn't mind Johnson. Wonder if he's going back to TSN?

Mike Johnson, analyst on Sportsnet's No. 2 hockey crew, has parted company with Rogers. No details other than confirmation he is gone.

Mike Johnson was the least of their broadcasting problems.

I thought Johnson was just awful, so this is good. Hopefully he stays out of broadcasting.

Johnson was not fine and I'm glad he's gone.
We've just been inundated with talentless schlubs for so long that our collective expectations of broadcasters has been set very low.

I think we've all become hyper critical experts of everything and develop strong feelings over unnecessary qualities

I think Ball and Hrudey are a great duo. I can give praise where warranted. Hextall is a great host. So is Maclean.

I'm sure this has more to do with him being the new guy than being terrible.

Johnson has been carrying Romanuk for two years. The way Paul calls the game works fine in soccer, when it takes a minute and a half for a scoring chance to develop. Hockey has passed him by.
I lost track of the number of times he would be babbling on about nothing instead of calling the play. I don't care about his faux insightful questions to Mike.

I liked Johnson, liked the point of view from an ex-player. He wasn't a complete plug either. when he played.

That's a shame on Johnson. Thought he was getting better every year. Positive analysis, smooth speaking, and great hockey lingo.

Johnson really irked me during and post this latest lockout, when he made a bunch of different comments that came across as though he was 100% motived by money.
As far as his actual colour commentary goes though, I had no issues personally.

Johnson was okay on the air. People who have worked with him tell me his arrogance surpassed his abilities by a far margin. It was all about him. Will be a great fit with the Gord Miller's, Ray Ferraro's and Darren Dreger's of the world. Selfish and Arrogant.

What is wrong being motivated by money? It's a job, not a charity.
