I can't stand Hillary but there is nothing in that article except for the pure speculation of one person.

Got it. They don't concern themselves, by choice, with the kinds of advocacy that are unions routinely do. They have a limited mandate. Fair enough. So members (typically women) that don't earn equal pay for equal work are SOL. They have no force multiplier to advocate on their behalf. Once more, got it.

Go look at the Salary survey the Salary difference between men and women is nominal. With women making more at A-,A and F levels and men making more at B,C,D,E and F+. Differences appear to be about 1% or less.

Also they don't choose not to advocate. They are bound by the rules of the engineering and geoscience act.

Also in engineering the group that earns significantly less are
Minorities whose education Apega doesn't recognize or have poor English skills.

Whatever happened to Silverman? It wasn't long ago that I thought she was really funny and quite brilliant. But she has kind of fizzled.

Jeffery Lord is pretty scummy. When discussing Michelle Obama's speech about when she said she would trust Hillary Clinton with her children, Lord jumps in and says something about how the families that had children killed in Benghazi trusted her too.

Why is this guy on TV, pretty slimey stuff.

Because networks are so scared to appear anything but neutral

Hahaha, are you for real? I'm 10 minutes in and there isn't any proof in that "documentary" at all.

LOL. I loved the foreboding music. You know someone has a quality argument to make when they reference a Youtube video.

Very. He was also going on about how there's more hate at the DNC. Van Jones asked for examples, and Lord stated something about there being a mix of race at the DNC who hated the republicans who had an issue with immigration. Huh?

Michelle dropping Trump without even saying his name was smooth. You know she got him good when she was the only person he didn't tweet about tonight The only problem with her speech was it might have been wasted too early. No offense to Chelsea, but no way she drops anything that good. Should have been the intro for Hillary.

After all the crap that lead into today, I thought the evening went perfectly. Each of the speeches was excellent in their own way, especially Michelle's. If she ever wants to run for office herself, she could easily win.

I didn't realize so many people think the primary qualification for being a government leader is giving good speeches. People realize these things are usually written by speech-writers, right?

Of course. We also know in American politics voters have exceptionally short attention spans and very little interest in skimming past the surface of policy details. The ability to drop great speeches is a pretty vital component of winning an election. If Hillary were better at it she would have dismissed Bernie a lot earlier. Conversely his ability to speak well is what grew his support base. So no, not a qualification for being a government leader, but weak speakers generally do not win elections either.

The speech writers put together the nuts and bolts and make the speech noteworthy, but the themes and topics are given to the writers by the politicians. It needs to reflect what they are trying to get across to people, and there are endless edits and rewrites between the writer and the orator. It's not like these politicians have no idea what they're going to be saying before they get up there.

Not sure why you got the impression that giving good speeches is the primary qualification?

Personally, it was refreshing to watch good speakers with thoughtful comments, messages of progress and hope come forward and speak. This, obviously, contrasted with the bombast and vacuous speeches at the RNC was particularly striking. I could see a lot of the left leaning posters here expressing similar thoughts.

I feel like the primary qualification is charisma, and I'm not joking. Speeches allow leaders to flex those muscles a little bit. I give more weight to a speech than a debate, which is even more useless.

Whilst that's true, Bernie apparently put together his own speech last night.
