Maybe he's making a last minute deal, Gaudreau and Monahan to the Oilers for Lucic.

Yes, but typically you need a good 2nd line calibre guy on the first line like Hudler the past two seasons. Frolik and Brouwer are 3rd liners that can play on the 2nd line. They are not good 2nd line forwards in the same manner that Hudler was.

Basically it would be like having prime Glencross penciled into the first line RW spot with no other options.

That's okay if you're not planning on doing much that season...

"Prime Glencross" scored some goals, but he wasn't half the player Brouwer is.

He would have been downtown before the contract was even signed.

Then he rips off his suit and you see a big Oilers logo tattooed on his chest... and in the background you can hear JR and King "OMG..OMG.. He was an Oiler all along"

Then Brian Burke comes out looking all frazzled and after a heated staredown, they shake hands and Burke raises Treliving's arm.... Then as they are celebrating, the room goes dark.. pitch black.. The lights are turned back on and there stands Taylor Hall who gives them both a stone cold stunner.

This can totally happen!

Stop calling Brouwer a third liner. He played second line for the Caps and Blues, both better teams than us. He is also a better player than Hudler.

Lol. Could you imagine if BT came on and said it was a misunderstanding like Kris Russell be re-signed?

Took a look at each team's potential top line combination.
  • Boston: Marchand, Bergeron, Backes
  • Chicago: Panarin, Toews, Kane
  • Nashville: Forsberg, Johansen, Neal
  • Philadelphia: Voracek, Giroux, Simmonds
  • Pittsburgh: Malkin, Crosby, Kessel (PP only)
  • San Jose: Marleau, Thornton, Pavelski

A couple of those you could debate as being a top 6 rather than top line guy but there's not many in the league. Much of these lines are probably better off split up spreading the offense throughout.
