Chia said Larsson is not a powerplay guy. So Wideman to Edmonton still a possibility for them.

Anyways since CP is a poor place to have any level-headed discussion of an Oilers player I'm done with the topic.
|
CP is way more positive about this for the Oilers than Oiler fans, other NHL fans and the NHL analytics guys because of a low opinion of Hall. You are the outlier on the Larsson talk, not CP.

Brodie and Giordano actually excel against very tough competition. That is why they are a top pairing.
Just getting ice-time against tough competition doesn't make you a #1

It does in Edmonton.

yup, i think flames should be trying to get wideman out to Edm asap. Chiarelli just commited that they traded hall for a dman that doesn't solve their powerplay pointman issues, and that they are still hunting for that.

I think he's doing okay considering he's probably holding some things back. I'm sure he would love to say; "Listen people! I know Hall is a popular player in Edmonton but I have been working on trades for a calendar year now and this was the best deal I could get for one of the 6x6. The rest of the league doesn't value some of these players nearly as high as fans do and the optics were never going to look good for Edmonton fans."

It's the same rationale that they used to give Shawn Horcoff $7M, because he was the de-facto #1 centre for Edmonton so obviously you pay him like a true #1.

"When looking for a d-man to trade Taylor Hall for, the young Mr.Katz recalled playing a game of jenga with Adam Larsson when interviewing prospects at the 2011 draft. It was that interaction that led Katz to ensure that Larsson was prioritized when shopping Hall."

New poll?
What's Chiarelli worse at - trades or press conferences?
